I find all that backlighting stuff with millions of colours, waving, flashing, changing intensity and the like just ridiculous.Scheider wrote:[…] Your opinion, guys?
I mean, is a keyboard an input device or is it a Christmas tree?
There's one really valuable feature, though: this keyboard is entirely programmable.
It is just to be hoped you can store the configuration in the keyboard itself.

This guy has no idea what he's talking about. LEDs mounted inside the switches in order to protect them from dying from ESD. Right.
But yay! for full key programmability! Hopefully without needing drivers.

My guess would be it's stored in the driver, not on the keyboardkbdfr wrote: There's one really valuable feature, though: this keyboard is entirely programmable.

Isn't new clear case for MX switch made so led is mounted on PCB rather than in switch. This guy was talking the other way around.

My guess is that he misunderstood the new way to do backlighting. The LEDs are SMD on the PCB under the switch as I understand it, must be much easier to assemble as you can do it with a normal soldering robot. Maybe it's less risk to damage components during manufacturing this way or is SMD mounted components more resilient to ESD for some reson?zoidbergslo wrote:Isn't new clear case for MX switch made so led is mounted on PCB rather than in switch. I agree it looks nicer than the pics suggested. Which doesn't mean much.beltet wrote:More impressive than I thought it would be... But I don't want a christmas tree on my desk...
If I ever find myself in the situation of opening some 80's retro Disko club I'ld buy a pallet and tack them on the wall.
Also this guy is hillarious:
well, no, of course not. Because the company that sponsors your fancy trip to Vegas said so...I have a 2 year old keyboard by this company with a dead LED but apparantly it won't happen to this one!

This keyboard reminds me of the Lite Brite sets:
When I was young, our dog ate an entire 64-colour pack of Crayola crayons. He later took a shit (remarkably similar to your photo), which remains to this day the most colourful shit I've ever seen.Kurk wrote: Regarding the light show:

I also think you guys are a exaggerating the RGB colouring a little bit... you don't have to make it look like unicorn poop...

we are not exaggerating the fact that it's completely useless and anyone here would trade 10 RGB backlighting keyboards with 1 full programmable matrix any time.

Useful backlighting is lighting up just the legends so that they can be seen in a dark environment. This thing is bleeding light everywhere and is just disturbing.
