I have had one too.nourathar wrote:I once bought one of these Silicon Graphics boards you mention last: not a yet a granite, but one of the earlier not-ps/2 compatible boards.
Apparently, some beige SGI keyboards speak PS/2 and some speak SGI's proprietary protocol but with a cable that looks like PS/2. You need to know the model number to tell.

G81-3081SAD for 5€:
http://kleinanzeigen.ebay.de/anzeigen/s ... ref=search
seller doesn't ship. After I asked several times to ship and even offered more money, seller added "KEIN VERSAND, NUR ABHOLUNG"
So if somebody is from Unterhaching, this is your chance to get some cheap dye-sub keycaps.

Speaking of sgi...
Me and scottc ran across a bunch of em in a bin
Pic taken by scott
There's actually three more o2s off camera, but they have had their ram taken out/cases absolutely destroyed.

I used to be fascinated by those. My father used to work in the automotive industry, and they had Indys and O2s scattered around in CAD offices, along with Sun Sparcstations, or Ultrasparcs. Some old DEC here and there, and of course Crays in the serious computing room.
One day my dad brought back a IBM RS/6000 complete with the 20inch, 60lbs P200 CRT monitor. All salvaged form the bin. I was really happy then, though I can't remember what model the keyboard was or whatever I made of it.

I would really like a Indigo² case, just the case.. for some future project, but I don't know if can even justify the cost of shipping one of those, if you would even be willing to sell. SGI's are usually heavy.

I have an o2, we used them years ago for prepress production. One machine i saved from the trash, and also the keyboard - which is unfortunately not that good. It has a weird color. The case (of the o2) itself is great, with a modular design.

I wouldn't even suggest destroying a working Indigo². Don't accuse me of blasphemy against the church of the almighty SGI!wheybags wrote:Also, if you destroyed a working indigo2 for the case, I woul be required to kill you :p
.. But sometimes you would have to scavenge parts from two of something to get one working system, and there would be leftovers.

Doesn't have a badge though. And I leave it up to you IBM experts to decide whether this is an original one, I don't know anything about those... GL.

it has the correct bottom-shell and also the correct sticker. I think it's a real industrial. But no idea why it has no sticker. Maybe the customer wanted it like that.t!ng wrote:could be a normal ssk with custom shell that you could buy some time ago. neat idea...

Thanks, and never! Wingnuts come with a EULA from a certain duck, requesting that you neither sell nor give them to anyone. If they go anywhere, it's back to DT.
