I haven't tried this yet myself. But I will.

(In fact, the OP shows it too. But the process makes more sense when you see it in motion. The lower shell remains in place, soldered to the PCB and clipped into the plate. Only the top comes off.)
They all look like PCB mounted switches to me :?

Is there more info on this planned Hyper7 keyboard?

Yeah, looks like it. I'm probably just being thick. Plates plain deny you access to the clips, unless they have notches there for just the purpose.

I will have a go breaking my Poker II soon. I already have the MC clears and springs to use. I have been putting it off because I was pretty sure I had to de-solder to change switches on a plate.

Or maybe not...

Or clear upper cases? :)

Without notches on the plate you have to desolder : there's no other way :/

It's a long time project :)

k, I'm going to ask a super stupid question because I've only been looking at ErgoDox caps so far: what's the difference between TKL and TENKLESS? It seems like the TENKLESS kits come with a bunch of extra keys, but what for?

In a maybe similar vein is there an analogue for STANDARD and TKL? It seems like if I pick up a Ducky Shine 3 that the STANDARD will be more keys than I need.

TKL = Standard 1.25 mods and 6.25 spacebar layout (i.e. Ducky, FIlco, WASD etc). Nothing extra
TENKLESS = Extended kits with more unusual sized mods. Might be better if you have an old cherry board or want to future proof. Also contains win/mac keys which the TKL doesn't

Cheapest for a Ducky would be something like HONEY/TKL (or similiar kits with ISO base + language). Don't forget the 6.25 space bar either. If you want win/mac keys pick up those as extra kits. If you get a full size board don't forget the extra four keys above the numpad and get a HONEY/FUNCTION/R1 to cover those

Any chance we could add a Vim key like the one below?
Image

I spoke with mtl and he said it was ok to ask SP to use the one on file (thanks mtl) so we don't have to pay the setup fee (25$ i think).

SP said :

"Pricing for this SA keycap is below:

25 pcs $4.38 each
50 pcs $2.43 each
75 pcs $1.76 each
100 pcs $1.44 each
150 pcs $1.11 each
200 pcs $0.95 each
250 pcs $0.71 each"

I'm pretty sure there are some ppl who would like a few of these (I'd take 5+) so we could reach at least 50 pieces. Seeing how most of us are geek(ish) - who else would buy old looking keycaps (or keycaps for that matter) - I think it would be a nice addition. I think only the Emacs guys would oppose this :P

I wanted to prepare the order for SP yesterday and waited until today because there is one last large order comming in.

The deadline was last Friday.

The only thing I can offer is that these keys will be shipped to me and I distribute them along with Round 5, but I seriously don't want to start collecting money for them myself etc.

Sounds like a good use for SP's new GB system:

http://www.pimpmykeyboard.com/deal-cate ... roup-buys/

They handle payments and shipping. And for a small GB it makes a lot of sense.

Hadn't seen it. Looks like a great option.

Thanks 7bit for the offer to help with the distribution, but as Muirium said the SP's new GB system would make this easy and would not add extra strain on R5 :)

Is it too late to make a small change to my order? I had a few blanks in my order but I was just thinking HONEY/MUIRIUM/BLANK would be better. Can I delete a few blanks and and this?

OK, in about an hour, I will run the script once more and then I'll prepare the order for SP which will take some while.

After that, you can only order some extra kits.

How about a flask for the F1-Key in the next Groupbuy? I would love to see it, think about it :)

Right after we've done Greek and Cyrillic… and probably before Emacs.

Is now a good time to suggest a periodic table? Mu is somewhere amongst the Actinides, where no one ever looks…

I think it could be pretty universal for the 'help' key. Would be nice if you could include it, it was just an idea :P

All the standard function rows in this buy are row 1.

7bit, what's HONEY/HYPER7/OVR all about? I am intrigued. (I know, it doesn't take much does it?)

A green help is a nice idea, I think it's much too late for additions now though. I think I may have argued for a white on green GO key earlier too.
A white on green keyboard runner should surely happen in the future.

HONEY/HYPER7/OVR is a kit to compensate overruns (OVerRun). I will add more of these ...

What's the verdict on adding more to our orders? I'm thinking I want to add a couple of 1u keys and a spacebar or two to for compatibility with another of my keyboards. Can we still add a couple keys?
