What is really sad is that tech websites seem to buy Razer's bullshit, at least here in Germany. Both "Chip" and "Golem", big tech news sites over here, had the story and reported Razer's ploy without the shadow of a doubt. Yay online tech "journalism"!

Never underestimate the suggestive power of a press release. They're lazy bastards, and will parrot what you tell them if you give them the chance. So long as it's half believable. And even then, they'll just put a question mark at the end of the headline.

Halvar, they probably get payed, just like Linus or other people. It's almost as bad as in the video game industry. You should take every product review etc. with a grain of salt, I mean look at ADAC...

Maximize profit, cut costs and sell garbage brought us to rubberdome keyboards and a time where mechanical keyboards almost got forgotten...

I think they were one of the first companys who went back from optical mousewheel encoder to a (cheap) mechanical one... When the Deathadder came out, they used cheap ass TTC microswitches and rotary encoder.
Their stuff is notorious to break fast :/
Almost everyone I know had trouble with Razer mice and all of them went back to Logitech, because they last.

The only thing I give them credit for is the Deathadder, for me one of the best forms for a mouse.
No bullshit buttons, no horizontal scroll bullshit on the mousewheel, no DPI switch... just 2 thumb switches thats all.
I love the MX518 for its build quality and the missing "Bullshit" but It's hard to get used to the form.
I love the IE3 for its form and also no "Bullshit" features here, but the build quality is shit... so the DA is somwhere in between.

Edit:
I totally agree with davkol, good marketing is one thing but straigt up lies are total different storry :(
I'm sorry, but I LOVE my horizontal mousewheel scroll - I rebound it to actual keys and use them ALL the time. Same goes for various other functions of my G9X which you found to be "bullshit".

On-the-fly DPI changing is very useful too, I don't know why it's a "bullshit" feature.

I've never had a mouse with horizontal scrolling but I use it on the trackpoint of my Thinkpad all the time.

It's all a matter of taste ofc, but I absolutely don't like mushy mousewheels and the G9 series has the worst mousewheeI have ever had! It is imprecise, hard to press, you accidently sidescroll and if you actually bind something to thoose sidescroll buttons its difficult to press... This so called "Feature" is the main reason I went away from logitech :/

I can't help me but this simply don't work for me, and sorry if I offended someone who like this feature.
But I am a bit mad at logitech for building this shit in almost every new mouse they bring out

Well this wouldn't bother me that much, but I don't need this. I play on 400 DPI without acceleration.
This works best for me

Reminds me of me and Matteo's arguments over the Magic Mouse! It really depends what you want from a mouse. I'm anti-tilt scrolling because I like panning the same way in X and Y, and the last thing I want is accidental input. Triggers are what the keyboard's for, to me at least.

But these things are down to the individual user. Mice may seem like simple things, but we use them in some pretty distinct ways.

I actually really like the DPI buttons, especially when I connect my laptop to an external monitor and the sensitivity goes way up. Also forward/back buttons on mice: I thought I'd hate them but combined with the scrollwheel it makes lazy web browsing so, so easy!

Sometimes some games are unusually sensitive/unsensitive, so it's handy then

No no, you didn't offend anyone. You are right, mouse wheel is crap on the G9. I have had 2 G9s in past 5 years (maybe even more?) and I have gotten used to it, but it still IS crap. However, I use all of the extra buttons on it and I really like the microgear (I think it's called that - the two modes mouse wheel feature) - all of them rebound to actually do something, not DPI+ DPI- of course. I have yet to find a better claw grip mouse, despite the few design flaws G9/G9x has.

What about that that new bright green and orange kailh switch topic? :D

What is really sad is that the 2013 model with Cherry switches is cheaper than the new one :geek:
If Razer would bring cheaper mechanical keyboards to market I wouldn't mind Cherry clones but with this price I do.

Maybe Razer is simply pissed because of the "exclusive" deal between Cherry and Corsair for the RGB LED Switch.
Why buying switches from a company that make exclusive deals with competitors?

Is the transparent case patented? If not, why couldn't they ask Kailh to make one if they really wanted one?

I think their primary reason is still cost cutting, because they can get away with it.
