Yes Luxemburg, Maybe Andorra or Liechtenstein too, don't know. There is no reason why those EU fiscal paradise won't profit to us too.
I saw nothing like handling fees in France but I know shipping isn't cheap even for light things like keycaps.
Chinese shops are always reducing amount of values or hiding informations (my high nicotine rated eliquids don't mention the rate to pass customs) but it can be risky and expensive if you get caught.
I just checked for Frankrijk and no taxes under 45€, 20% VAT under 150 (seems to be an European's common market step) and 20% VAT + 2.5% custom fees above 150€matt3o wrote:Okay. I did some research. Every country have different rules, but the formula is more or less the following:
If value is very (very) low you may pay nothing.
If value is low (in Italy less than €150 same as Germany) you pay a small handling fee (that in Italy is €5.50) + country VAT.
If value is under approx €1000 you pay custom taxes + handling fee + VAT. customs tax varies based on typology of the goods. I have a HUGE list of all typologies and it's close to impossible to understand where keycaps fall into, but my best guess is that custom taxes should be around 6%
If value is over €1000 (may vary) is like the above but handling fee doubles (in Italy €11).

I mean the source file is definitely messy, especially the textures I couldn't figure out how they worked and I ended up creating a hell lot of useless texturesscottc wrote:I don't think it looks messy at all: it looks great! And so tempting...

It can be the same with a simple svg file made with Inkscape. Luckily, it can be cleaned in a text editor.

Arrgh, the SP-GB-pimpmykeyboard website doesn't work on Android tablet / smartphone. Tried Safari, Firefox, Opera and this fish (Dolphin?). I'm in, so one more ISO return and DE language pack. But have to wait until back from holiday with normal webbrowser.
Regarding taxes / Zoll / customs i always calculate about 30-40€ when ordering something from outside the EU to Austria (with a value from 100-300€). It was the same from Switzerland - a 130€ bicycle carrier was in the end about 160€. A WASD order for about 100€ was 130€ in the end, without shipping. My wife ordered some T-Shirts 3-4 times from Canada, but it was always different. Once i remember we paid almost nothing for customs.

I can help with this formula. I recently got a set of blank keycaps from SP and the UK value was £25. This put me over the £15 import allowance. I got one of those Royal Mail silver cards through, stating I owed £5.14 import tax (fair enough), plus £8 fee to Royal Mail (wut.. ). Kinda feels like a shake down from Royal MailMuirium wrote:Yes, that's technically just a holding charge that you pay them for the bother of inspecting your stuff. (And I have never seen the formula. It may well go higher still.) The actual tax they charge is almost the same everywhere in Europe.
Any EU proxy would minimise fees by combining many people's smaller orders. But tax is tax.
Once your item hits £125 you then have to pay import duty, but I'm not sure what that is, but I know the government site is especially useful and transparent in this area.

£8 on £25 of caps! I paid £4 (for processing, not tax) on my SSK! They are so bloody random. Every time I am surprised. There's just no rhyme or reason to it.

Thats odd! Was that Royal Mail too? Theres always the chance it'll slip through unnoticed, but I think this is a slim chance. I pretty much avoid ordering anything from America, as EU is nearly always quicker, easier and tax free. But when theres a custom set of delicious keycaps I can't really pass that up
Matt3o - It would be really nice to post the blender model up on GitHub. We could then contribute by adding further layouts and fixing any model errors!

Indeed!
My SSK was processed by Parcel Force about six months ago. Boxes half the size and quarter the weight have cost twice to four times that processing fee, and every single one of them through Parcel Force in the same few years! It's just daft.
All of those were correctly declared. I've never had anything held or charged that was marked as gift. (Few of which I even knew would be sent that way.) But there's always a risk of course.
EU purchases aren't tax free, by the way. You're just paying tax in the other country. American imports are untaxed until they reach us.
I'm so looking forward to the US joining the EU…

I'll work on that, but I have to finalize the legends first! I have just 10 days and a hell lot of kits to review...Muirium wrote:Our Cyrillic is going to be as cool as this Cyrillic, right?

OK, i found out that when only a tablet like a Nexus 7 or any Android phone is available, this link works (to choose and fill the cart): http://www.pimpmykeyboard.com/business/ ... creations/
The images are wrong zoomed, and the layout is strange, but it works. Defintely not tested on different devices and browser flavours.

you should definitely let SP know about that. There are always pretty responsive about technical issues.madhias wrote:OK, i found out that when only a tablet like a Nexus 7 or any Android phone is available, this link works (to choose and fill the cart): http://www.pimpmykeyboard.com/business/ ... creations/

Just a quick question, since I haven't been able to find it in the thread, are all child deals going into production? Specifically (in my case) Cyrillic and Intl Nordic or is this dependent on some MOQ that has to be reached? Cheers and apologies if this has been answered before!

Good question. Blanks don't really need MOQs (there was produced in older GBs even if they didn't reach it) but it seems that legended have a 10 units minimum. But it's really small and we have some time before the end so it must be reached, even for the mono international (I hope).

it has been addressed several times. the answer is: depends on how the GB goes. So far so good, so I'm quite optimistic.. I'll push to have everything manufactured despite the MOQ.carpetbomber wrote:Just a quick question, since I haven't been able to find it in the thread, are all child deals going into production? That being said I'm pretty sure both Cyrillic and Intl Nordic will both meet the MOQ.
As of now I see the base kit blank and the additional mods blank the only endangered kits. The RGB Blank could be produced anyway because it's the same as text/icon rgb. Unfortunately it seems the international mono-legend is also not very popular, but I might ask to merge it with the monolegend and we might print it anyway.
At the very end of the GB I'll ask SP, they've been very reasonable with the Skull Squadron GB.
