I've been noticing a couple trends lately. First, there are hundreds of listings describing vintage computer parts as "NOS" when they are obviously used. Second, ratty old keyboards that are no use to anyone (except maybe keyboard freaks like us) are now going for a minimum of $79, $189 for the rarer ones. These things used to be considered junk and were $10 at the most.

I think I'll make my own listing:

IBM Computer. No reserve!! NOS! Never used!!!!! Super RARE! Unable to test. May need some cleaning. Sold AS IS.

Yes, I have certainly noticed this sad trend on eBay. Perhaps we should file a class action lawsuit for taking advantage of us propeller heads with addictions.

Caps? You want caps? My office looks like Scrooge McDuck's money bin, except I am swimming in keycaps instead of money. Probably I should have my first keycap attached to a watch chain that I could wear with my three-piece suit.

However, I might be recovering somewhat from keycap addiction. I was actually able to watch the latest GB for the Granite Set without placing an order. But I wanted to, in the worst way.

Instead, I've been buying 122-key IBMs (Model M variety) to harvest them for keycaps to use on my planned Model F projects.

No, it's the exact same keyboard.
Obviously the buyer wanted to pay with PayPal and have the keyboard delivered outside of Germany, while such options were just not available in the first sale. The seller now explicitely excludes them in red print.

Seems to be standard practice on German eBay. Answer: find a friend in the country and have them convert from PP to a bank transfer as well as be your proxy. I did this recently to score a €10 AEK II. Of course it helped I was already buying a keyboard from my friendly proxy at the time, too.

But yeah, screw this seller! He's being a douche on top.

Carefull, in the description it says G81-3000LRNDE-0, so maybe it is not a G80.

There is a EU directive that bank transfers should be free between countries within the EU. You need to ask the seller for the IBAN and BIC/SWIFT numbers for the account. I have done this several times from Sweden to Germany, ordering the bank transfer online. I had to uncheck a few options to get it free, and the transfer takes a few days.
Bank transfer is also the standard practice in Sweden. I have my primary bank account number be the same as my social security/ID number that I don't want to give out, so I use my savings account for receiving payments.

Rather the EU directive says that banks must charge the same for bank transfers within the EU (plus a few other countries including Switzerland and Norway) than for national transfers. So if (depending on your bank and/or country) you have to pay for a bank transfer within your country, so you have to pay the same for a EU bank transfer.
And such SEPA payments must be in €.

Carefull, in the description it says G81-3000LRNDE-0, so maybe it is not a G80.

yes, very good observation, someone paid too much in the end. That false description could become a problem for the seller, G80 / G81 is quite a difference.

yes I believe you are right, of course cherry has a "slighty" different idea of "compact keyboards" than TKL or 60%.
