Back Space with two words is just more oldschool and therefor much better, in my opinion - if it counts

Same here. But, like others, I'm 100% icon mod, so…

Also: +1 for RUB OUT. It even fits better with PAGE UP, on two lines. Although I'm sure many more people would notice / be surprised by it than spacing BACKSPACE.

if we want to see this

we might introduce "RUB OUT"

I have quite a few older dictionaries, for what it’s worth here is how some write it (only when in combination with the word "key"):

backspace key:
  • Bürger, Wörterbuch Datenerfassung Programmierung (VEB Verlag Technik, East Germany, 1976)
  • Ernst, Comprehensive Dictionary of Engineering and Technology (Brandstetter, West Germany, 1984)
  • Amkreutz, Dictionary of Data Processing (West Germany, 1986)
  • Müller, Wörterbuch Mikroprozessorsysteme (VEB Verlag Technik, East Germany, 1990)
  • Anastasio, Dictionary of Informatics (VDI Verlag, West Germany, 1991)
  • Harrap’s Shorter Dictionary (1991, England)
back space key
  • Technik-Wörterbuch Datenverarbeitung, Rechner, Büromaschinen (VEB Verlag Technik, East Germany, 1970)

If I had to guess who on this forum could make a list of references like that!

More evidence indeed that BACK SPACE lost its ironic central space long ago. Even if some of us do like it.

Excellent research, kbdfr. To be sure though, I'd want to know if any of your dictionaries include the word "shif t".

I'd better run away.

I don't care if this legend have backspace or back space, to me it should be legendered "previous delete" :p

Delete Left vs. Delete Right. So true. Explaining those two to a new user is fun.

Delete Left: Delete a character left of the cursor
Delete: Delete a character at cursor-position
Delete Right: Delete a character right of the cursor

An, I remember the days of flashing carets trailed by an underscore: the actual delete target. What a mess.

don't forget: "delete forward two characters ahead from cursor position".

Dammit! Now I want a "DEL RAND" key. What would be the Icon equivalent?

Another ES correction (don't hate me!)

The ç key for Spanish is not present (I see a }ç one, but at least it does not correspond to the Spanish layout).

The correct form for "cedilla" (Ç) would be Çç}, it is a letter with upper and lower case, and the AltGr associated symbol is }.

If it is only a correction, the ç should be a capital letter and you "only" have to move the } to the lower left side and make it blue.

if the }ç key is not present in other languages I can fix it, no problem (wondering why it didn't come out earlier)

Thanks, looks much better ! 8-)

I wasn't looking forward to have a "spelling error" pointed out to me every time someone walks by my desk (no kidding -- I had to replace an SP cap because of this, got too annoying. Freaking spelling nerds ;)) I believe you are right in thinking it comes from having it broken up into two lines on a small key. FWIIW I did a small survey in the office this morning -- every single board here (incl. the ones in the junk & spare part piles) has it written w/o the " " and everyone here says they would spell it "backspace".

Seeing how many people are unaware of the difference between "its" and "it’s", I wouldn’t take that as a reference.

Maybe in the non-native english speaking world, all native english speakers around here (except me) :P

now it's one word.
Thank you matt3o. It’s smart that you believe in the wisdom of the masses.
Do you leave
[BACK
SPACE]
or do you render it
[BACK-
SPACE]
?

Portuguese and French layouts have the legend without "}" so it must be a mistake when you add Spanish caps.
As my accepted suggestion for Mono Ç, a real hook is more accurate but I didn't bought this set, so it's not a personal request.

no, no hyphen.

The hook is too small, it works on the monolegend but not in the international kit.

Is it normal, that the two Amiga keys look that different? I mean, it isn't just the infill, the style of the both 'A's looks that different, I dont really like how it looks side by side...
(Especially the right foot of the right 'A' is at right angle and the left 'A' isn't...)
Is this the original look of the Amiga keys??

EDIT: It also looks like, the Black Amiga keys left foot is really thin... I researched a little and both original Amiga keys look exactly the same, exept the infill. Here they look quite different.

EDIT2:
Suggestion: Take the Grey Amiga Key and fill it black for the second one and replace the black Amiga key image.

Fancy sharing a link or two of your research, Drrtyrokka? I think we had them identical to begin with, but then Broadmonkey or another Amiga user pointed out they were different after all.

I'm fine with them either way. Because I'm actually getting two pairs, so they can always match!
