Difficult. (Not me: I only got one.) The trouble is everything is built around the Common kit. Even the Cyrillic alphas aren't enough.

Good news everyone!
"First let me start this email with a apology for taking so long to send out a status report on this group buy! We are so pleased at the response we received on this group buy - it definitely exceeded our expectations!! Many thanks to Matteo for creating such a great design!
We are currently finishing up the molding of the last few keycaps needed for this set, we will then move into sublimation. We are also in the process of testing and tweaking the first few sublimated sets - once ready, we will send them to Matteo for his final stamp of approval - this should happen next week, then we move into full sublimation production. Once I have Matteo's approval, I will send out a few pictures of the sets as they come off the press (I will also be posting these to the GeekHack thread as well).
For shipping, when sets are completed and packaged up, you will receive a tracking number from Stamps.com - we won't be emailing these directly to you, so be sure to look out for the email from Stamps (may end up in your spam or junk folders). We are still a few weeks away from getting these out - this set was so much larger than we anticipated (but are grateful for this!).
Should you have any questions about your individual orders, please feel free to contact me directly - I am here to help!

Because it's not like we here at DT never have had anything to do with SP to deserve a mention and maybe a bit of their attention!Melissa from SP, NOT Omikron (he only copy pasted), wrote:(I will also be posting these to the GeekHack thread as well).
It's the same on the GB page on pimpmykeyboard.com where it says "Please refer to the official thread on GeekHack for more info.".
I don't have anything against going to GH to see whatever SP posts, but they do give GH the credit where some is due our way.

Yeah, it's a little annoying. Especially as this set was designed, by Matteo, right here in the open on DT. Perhaps they need a nudge. I'm sure it's ignorance rather than by design. "Why would the English speaking keyboard community need more than one forum?"

I am not too sure it's down to ignorance since the biggest order they ever had from the keyboard community (Round 4) was also from DT.
I think it's more down to GH having a lot of contact with SP and providing them with a vendor sub-forum, so it's only natural.

The Round 4 order was from 7bit, rather than DT, surely. The vendor forum point, though, that makes sense. If they're active on GH, they will be more aware of it. Which comes back to awareness once again.

If the payments aren't collected by a member but the company and the shipping isn't done by a member but the company, I think it's technically not a group buy, and the term is misused for marketing purposes and we are gamed. It's a commercial sale. Prove me otherwise.

I wouldn't dare! Because you are quite right. Granite's a group design then sold by the manufacturer to we customers directly. Which I'm fine with too.

Except they market it as group buys. I wish these sales weren't named group buys.
The advantage of what they are doing is obviously convenience.
However, the disadvantage is that it turns a community buy once again into sales to individual powerless consumers. If a group buyer makes a big order, he represents an entity and has more negotiation and other powers than a mere consumer. WE HAD THEM BY THE BALLS!

My question is whether Signature Plastics could produce some more granite keycaps than ordered, and take the granite set into their permanent stock, and sell it even outside of the groupbuy, via their online shop pimpmykeyboard.com ? Dear Mrs. Petersen, would that be an option for you?

Matteo wrote about specifically designing Granite (and the files he submitted) to prevent this. To ensure that it's a one shot deal. I don't understand how, though. SP either makes the caps or doesn't, you can't exactly put time bombs in the graphic files…

I have no idea, as I favour bringing back DSA Retro and Round 4 SPH so anyone can buy them new. But Granite is Matteo's baby – he put a monumental effort into it – so I understand why he's protective of it, as his creation.

As Matt already said, if they want a designes they should hire one since it's a real work. I think SP is agree with this spirit and they don't really care : it's another job than plastic manufacturing.
They already have their own font for double shot legends, largely corrected by 7bit.

Ok this is tough.
I agree this is not a group buy but a "sale with tiers". That being said SP gave an incredible tool to the community, anyone can make his design and have his dream keycap set. Honestly I would never been able to get the Skull Squadron set without SP service.
If we are arguing on "naming", let's replace "GB" with "SALE" or something else. if the argument is "it was better at my times when we organized the GB by ourselves!" well... I'll refrain from posting more SP "sales" on DT.
SP uses GH as official frontend to the community, that's the reason to posts a link to GH only. They do not have a representative here.
Regarding manufacturing additional sets. If SP produces more sets for themselves, they are going to sell them at the best price possible (adding 100 sets to a production of 400 is nothing for them). Meaning that who buys a "left over" may end up paying less than who participated in the GB.
But even if the price were the same, if SP wants to use my templates (OUR templates) outside the GB they have to pay for the privilege. If they do, I'll release the templates and let them run more caps. Any sum they'd pay I'll donate to the community. Please note that SP hasn't asked to produce more caps, meaning that they are probably not interested.
EDIT: please note that this is true for sublimated sets, where there's a lot of work involved in making the templates. For double shot this is less the case.
