I've gone through every page that mentions eBay.
All working references and links are now tagged as volatile, and the affected pages appear here:
http://deskthority.net/wiki/Category:Pa ... references
These are links to auction listings that still work, with all images still available, but at any time the auction listings or the images could disappear. Forum members who possess or have access to any of the equipment covered by these auctions are urged to post replacement photos to the wiki, or post replacement references if they know of a stable website with photos that cover the required details. (Imgur, Photobucket etc aren't great as they tend to break down, lose images etc.)
In some cases I have managed to find alternative links to use as references instead.
Pages where auction listings have gone completely, or the images are gone (leaving the reference worthless) are included here:
http://deskthority.net/wiki/Category:Pa ... references
The same applies to these, but you can't use any existing photos as a guide, as they have ceased to exist.
We're relying too much on auction listings, and they don't last forever.
New reference photos required!

I really appreciate your work!
I'll try to fix some of them during the next week (some of the volatile links where inserted by me)...

could http://archive.org be a solution to this?
You can submit a new url when it doesn't have the page listed.

It's terribly slow and flaky, and the objective is to supply our own material.

Honestly, my give-a-toss level is bordering on zero. There's only so much heel-dragging I can put up with.

I've already archived all the photos myself. In some cases, such as the Newbury, I don't care if it lives or dies — I bought a bag of those switches myself.
I don't want the wiki to be reliant on external sources — I want it to be self-contained. It's much easier to read if you're not constantly having to jump to external sites, and photos uploaded on the wiki are frequently useful for illustrating multiple pages. (If they have proper names and proper descriptions, you can even find them through search when looking for images to illustrate an article. Sadly, most do not, and finding images is hard — it's easier to take a new one than find an existing image.)
