Sadly, I think the price is high because know they can get it. Besides, they make them in England which can't be cheap.

If you want to make a split keyboard using Tipro units, you can chain both halves using a normal PS/2 cable, because the Tipro bus connector (a small flat cable connecting both PCBs) is much too short and allows connecting only units placed side by side (and mostly joined using a special part).
In that "PS/2-chained" configuration, only the one unit directly connected to the computer will be recognized (and programmed) by the ChangeMe software. So you would have to program first one unit and then the other one, which of course is not a problem if the keyboard design does not change too often.

Don't forget Tipro keyboards don't have NKRO. Nevertheless, as a professional touch typist using a Tipro MID keyboard, I can say that's not really an issue because the keyboard just sends an acoustic signal and all characters appear in the correct order (not a single case of different experience after several months of intensive daily use). It would be interesting, though, to hear what happens with chained keyboards used simultaneously.
