Muirium found that SSK, posted it in this thread, and I hurried and bought it. I'm typing on it right now. So, yes, I'm most thankful for this thread and everyone who posts in it, I also had those "bummer" moments from time to time that kbdfr meant when you found something first that you really want and then it turns up here, but that's only one side of the medal...
I'm pretty sure kbdfr knows both sides. too.

Wasn´t meant serious at all. But that cherry g80 0778 was due to its description under the radar for most and after looking it up on the wiki I was getting all excited to grab it. Everyone else is of course free and more then welcome to go after it but sometimes you find a nice keyboard, like I did a g80 1000HFD missing any description once, and you just hope that no one else finds out about it till that damn timer runs down

I am quite satisfied to see that my reaction on madmatt's post expressed exactly what I meant:kbdfr wrote:Well, while of course seebart is free to post whatever he wants, sometimes I too wish he wouldn't post everything he finds.madmatt wrote:man seebart, starting to hate you . Been following half the stuff you just made public. Was hoping to get some nice discounts on some of them but now everyone on deskthority knows.
while of course seebart is free to post whatever he wants,
sometimes I too wish he wouldn't post everything he finds.
No question posting finds is the very purpose of this thread,
and we discussed it before,
and of course I was and still am not opposed to finds being published here,
and I do occasionally post things myself,
but still
while of course seebart is free to post whatever he wants,
sometimes I too wish he wouldn't post everything he finds.
Perhaps I should have added something in my post:

I am conflicted about these topics too. Mostly I lean towards being annoyed by them but I still want to let people know of good finds. Most of us here probably know how to find the good stuff anyway but on the other hand it's nice to have cool items that may have slipped through the cracks served to you on a silver platter.

From the Commodore facebook page earlier today;
"Do you want a C64x?
Jeremy Altman has announced he is selling the remaining stock of the C64x Barebone cases.
These are available directly from him @ $250 each plus shipping.
You need to install the mini ITX main board & HD of your choice.
There is room for several hard drives or SSDs plus a DVD or CD drive.
Interested? Email Jeremy at syntek@gmail.com
Remember the C64x features an amazing mechanically switched keyboard with "cherry blue" switches."
I am a bit interested, but I feel that $250 is a bit stiff..
It WOULD have made a bad ass HTPC thou

I haven't seen a Schneider G8x-1000 before, but the later keyboards Cherry made for Schneider were G81. Looks like a nice keyset though that hasn't been used much. Hope you can rub out the scribble on the tab key.

Schnieder 1*** model also a G81, you can see the shiny metal between the keys its a big giveaway. Even on the few Cherry G80 models that had a plate all I have seen have been black. Even still, a good deal. Just grab a 1000 (or some earlier revision 3000 model pcb will also fit in 1000 case fine) model MX pcb to put in there and you will have a nice board.

It's a G81-1157 HAD (have the same here).
Schneider keyboards (at least when not battleships like the G80-2510) seem to usually have English text on their non-alpha caps:

I second BlueBär!
Indeed. You're in Germany, so you're well placed to handle this. (Especially if 7bit doesn't want to.) Everyone interested in switches should go to you. That's more than 1000 of them right there!BlueBär wrote:Other bidders might ruin it. I'd like ~65 switches.Muirium wrote:So it is. How about a little group buy? I'm after 88…
