That MX5000 that chance is selling was actually starting to reach a reasonable price, but then he goes and raises it? Very silly.

Not as clean this time, but they're likely from the exact same cupboard. They forever seem to show up in batches, here and there…

It is my best feeling Model M, for what it's worth. The one in the best condition, too. And my only IBM with a white barrel frame.
But it's the Model Fs I always come back to…

My understanding is that the silver label is the oldest of the Model Ms and the label was on the upper right-hand corner of the keyboard. Next came the white label, which was affixed to the upper left of the keyboard.
My SSK has a white barrel frame; I will have to check the date on it.
My fondness for Model Fs is growing. I was able to get an F-122 on eBay that is quite clean and appears to be in excellent condition. After getting over the initial shock at its aircraft carrier dimensions, I am starting to visualize it as a potential daily driver. I am itching to do the ANSI mod and to get the Teensy installed.

Of my two working Ms (1985 Terminal and 1987 SSK), I actually prefer the feel of the terminal one. Nothing beats the SSK's "portability", though.

Not sure if this would be of interest to anyone, but there's a Sony BKE-9400A in this job lot which is in the wiki as having Topre switches. Unfortunately, it's too far away from me to be able to pick up and proxy if anyone does want it...

edit - Actually looking at it, the case is slightly different so it might not be the same model as the one in the wiki...might be worth a punt for anyone near Leicester.

The LED-windows are on the wrong side and square, so it's not topre. I think it's some kind of white alps.HzFaq wrote:Not sure if this would be of interest to anyone, but there's a Sony BKE-9400A in this job lot which is in the wiki as having Topre switches. I think that it's probably white Omron switches given that Sony used them in their other linear-edit keyboards like the BVE-910.
I like to think it went like this: Topre makes capacitive keyboards for Sony initially. Sony decides to cut costs and so Topre makes them the cheaper conductive boards. Sony doesn't like how they feel or their reliability suffers so they switch to Omron.

Yep, definitely white Omrons, like this one I grabbed http://www.ebay.com/itm/261485800566orig_cvip=true – keycaps are thin (pbt?) dye-subs with all kinds of interesting legends, if you want to add some to an Alps board for amusement. The keyboard I grabbed weighs >12 pounds. While this one is a bit smaller, it’s probably at least 8–10. Not something to take with your laptop, to say the least.
Personally, white Omrons aren’t my favorite. But then again, I also don’t much like topre switches. They’re not all that tactile, but they are reasonably quiet. YMMV.
