Yes, they are, they are from the same seller as the one MonsterToys has, I think. It was very rusty so be careful with those.

I'm interested in buying the broken one for spare switches if someone wants the one that is ok. Also willing to send out spare parts like switches or key caps to people from DT.

(BTW the three from the last haul were proxied to snoopy, Monster-Toys and Muirium)

Clicks on the beam spring auction. Laughs out loud. Not at all surprised to see the deal "taken off ebay" so soon again!

Good to see both Macmakkara and Scottc already stake a claim. Now that Snoopy and me are sorted out, you guys are head of the beam spring waiting list!

Yes, it's the same "error in the auction" as last time around... macmakkara is covered, but I guess Scottc will want to / have to wait for a complete one and not take one that's missing caps.

Anything new about the Great White Texan whales?

Bet the Kishy premium is all about scarcity. XT's are bloody good keyboards, and easily the biggest bargain out there. IBM just made way too many of them to catch the big spender's eye.

XT -- the Model F for the rest of us! It is indeed a great keyboard and one of the easiest in the Model F line to get up and running. For those who do not feel inclined to install Soarer's Converter, there is the plug and play Hagstrom Converter.

Let's find out by starting to make offers to Muirium for his Kishsaver!

The problem is that for many of us, it's one compromise or another too far on layout

* Too many hat keys.

* No gaps between alpha and numpad blocks

* No editing block, so if you use a lot of those controls via muscle memory, it's shot.

* Layout is ALMOST ISO, which drives Americans nuts.

I'd rather convert a 122-F internally, than deal with the hassles of an XT-F.

Yeah, the layout of the XT is the only downside for me. I use software keymapping to make things a little easier.

I've dealt with the XT layout by remapping to a hybrid HHKB/Mac configuration and swapping keycaps accordingly:

It works surprisingly well.

I saw this in the XT layout preference thread a while ago. The hardware mod is not an option for me, I'm a purist. XT needs to look like XT for me. I bet it works well though.

Yeah, the XT has a lot of personality. You either love it or hate it. Soarer's Converter helped transform mine from the get go, software layout wise, into something I could live with. I use that numpad all day, but seldom for typing numbers. And the function key column, likewise.

This is actually not a hardware mod. It consists of remapping using software and then swapping some keycaps to coincide with the remapping. If I did not like the HHKB/Mac layout so much, I would have been fine with the original XT mapping and keycaps. A nice thing about this setup is that it is entirely and easily reversible.

Looking forward to refurbishing my AT and F-122. I plan to do some rearranging of springs on these to create a modified ANSI layout that can easily be reconfigured as HHKB/Mac.
