What's your plan for the blue switch Model F? My understanding is they need Xwhatsit's controller. Or, I suppose, the rival one that HaaTa etc. are working on. Anyone know how far they've gotten?

Well if nobody wants to sells me a kishsaver, I'll have to take a saw and make my own!
No, actually, for me I don't know yet. We got a good price for something to tinker with.

Yes Xwhatsit is the only option as far as I know. BUT since these F's are coming from the same fellow that Halvar's beam springs came from the overall condition remains to be seen, corrosion etc. They could end up being for the cabinet only.
I also have something coming in from the Netherlands, and it ain't smokable...[emoji16]

Making your own 62 key ? Interesting , i guess you would have to do your own pcb plate and case , this would be interesting

I have stripped down that XT( the dirty ebay one not the nice one ), if anyone needs any spare parts let me know
The flowing is up for grabs, just pay postage
Top case, dirty no label, bar between F keys and rest of board snapped on one end needs to be glued
bottom case, dirty few chips in the paint
one foot, right hand side very slight yellowing
PCB, untested lightly cleaned with water
2 Case screws
3 cork feet ( if my other XT does not need them)
top plate, some corrosion but good condition
Some springs hammers and barrels are available but i want to keep a decent amount as spares, if anyone needs them for a repair or mod and has no other option let me know.

Aw crap! I just found out that a couple months ago there was a mid-70's Sanders keyboard on eBay - and it only went for $50.99!
It's the same keyboard as on the cover of the very first issue of BYTE Magazine:
I have no idea what switches it has. It looks like HaaTa's arch nemesis (and mine), "b***a" got it. Who the hell is that guy? He also got the TEK-Harris 8630 keyboard (seen in TRON) a couple days ago. (That really pissed me off because I couldn't log in to eBay at the time, thanks to eBay's untimely server problems.)

Interesting. I've got a USB card in my A3000, but USB keyboard and mouse don't work in games or programs that bypass the OS. Possibly this adapter wouldn't have that problem.Halvar wrote: ↑Use your PS/2 keyboards on your Amiga:

I had not realized before that these keycaps will fit Topre-switch keyboards. Do you know which models of Brother typewriters used Torpe-compatible keycaps?foxtrott wrote: ↑someone needs new keycaps for Topre ? .. -->>

I also bought one of each (Japanese and Chinese). However, I don't think they are Model F; at least I don't think they have capacitive buckling spring switches. It is some other kind of switch that I could not identify from other posts I have seen on these. I haven't received mine yet. I will know more after they arrive.quantalume wrote: ↑I believe these are new IBM model Fs at a great price:

Here is the post from Soarer on GH:
http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=50437.0
Apparently, the switches are some form of Alps, and the caps appear to be doubleshots instead of dye-subs.

Ok, interesting, thanks for the link. Are these the only IBM keyboards that have model numbers starting with 6 that are not model Fs? At least Soarer has a controller for it...

You're welcome. Don't know about the model numbers; IBM has done some strange things with assigning names and model numbers to its various keyboards. Nevertheless, as you have pointed out, there is a Soarer solution for interfacing these interesting keyboards to modern computers via USB.quantalume wrote: ↑Ok, interesting, thanks for the link. I was hoping that the switches were at least clicky, but according to the other posts, it looks like they are vintage green linear Alps and that they have a 3.5 mm travel.
All this notwithstanding, these are still very attractive-looking keyboards that should be fun to use, and after installing new controllers they should have excellent resale value.
