[Group Buy] Italian G80-11908HRMIT Doubleshots $34 shipped

For those of you that haven't seen these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 275wt_1396

These are brand new in the box doubleshot keys. I offered to be a proxy on this for a member here and have seen a few others express interest in these. I'm wondering how many others would be interested in these if I could get them for cheaper.

Shipping the entire keyboards is what makes this expensive. I would remove the keycaps and ship them in a few flat rate international boxes. I could also remove the stems/springs from the boards, but that is something we would have to discuss as that would be a large effort on my behalf. I'm thinking this as a base if we bought 20 sets:

$20 each * 20 = $400
$10 each shipping * 20 = $200 (very up in the air)
Shipping to Europe = $120
Total: $720
Total per set before EU to EU shipping = $36

If the EU to EU shipping is $4 or less, you'd be looking at a $40 total shipped price or 28 euros.

I'm not looking to make money off this...I don't even want a set of the keys (I hate you ISO format!). Maybe just something to justify my time put into this. Mainly looking to to help out, as I expect I will one day need someone's help in Europe.

Let me know if you'd be interested in any of these at this price. If we get enough interest and the seller goes for it, we'll deal with that then. If not, no worries.

Final Update is as follows

$34 per set shipped to your door via priority mail (6-10 days), anywhere in the world. I decided that it was probably better to ship them individually and not risk some of you getting double taxed. Also, by keeping them separate, maybe only a few of you will even get taxed in the first place.

I wanna get these ordered ASAP so payments are now being accepted.

I WILL combine shipping if you want multiples. For now, I will ask for the full price per set and refund you the difference of what it costs once I actually get them to to post office and get them shipped. Multiple sets will probably ship via first class.

My paypal is biniaris@gmail.com Payment should be via the gift option but READ THIS:

I think the best option here may be to PM me with your paypal email and how many sets you want and I will send you an invoice. I can then send you a paypal invoice and you can pay. This may help getting through customs since it will be an exact invoice for what you are purchasing. If you want to go by this option the price will increase to $35.69

I sure can do Europe redistribution. Only matter is, we need to calculate costum expenses, or find a way to avoid them!

The only way to avoid customs 100% is to ship each set separately. You can never be sure with these guys. I didn't have to pay import tax on my Round 3 order despite the fact that value was $200 - customs simply chose to ignore it.

If the purchase price on these keyboards are $20, and I am only sending the keys...let's say the keys are 50% of the value...10 sets per box is a $100 declared value. If we ship these individually, it'll be like $15 a pop.

I'm not really sure about how costum houses work, but will they really rely on the value you declare? In that case, you could declare a very low value. Spare keycap sets won't be easy to evaluate anyway... and they won't know the price of the keyboards you're taking them from.
xbb, do you know how much is the minimum value they charge for? I think it's 40€ or something like that?

BiNiaRiS

Exactly...if a customs agent opens the box and goes, WTF, these are Cherry doubleshot keys in great condition and WHAT? they only declared $100?

...I will eat my shoes :)

The declared value (customs declaration) is irrelevant. If they open up our package they will want to see a receipt.

User avatar

Then again, the receipt from the ebay seller probably won't do, since it'll say "keyboards" rather than "keycaps"...
So, next idea is "forgery"!

OR... suppose I send you some money via PayPay... won't that work as a receipt?

I've never understood this.

What is wrong with my mom sending me some socks from the moon that she hand made. Why do I have to have a receipt of them if I didn't buy them.

If you declare something as a gift, customs open it and see that it's a pair of socks, they won't ask you for anything :)

Now I understand it  thanks!

I've never bought something from outside Europe so I was mistaken.

My Topre Keycaps are on the way as my Round 3 Keycaps. I'm sure the Topre will arrive before the Group 3.... :|

i might be interested in 1-2 sets of springs and stems, are they brown or clear?
PS: one proxy per eu country might be best

Shipping too many is not worth probably, one set or two should fit in a small flat rate box. That's cheap enough and should pass the customs easy if you declare it low, like 10-20USD
Do not ship them in bubble wrap! :)
Something else I received (ibm keycaps and some other small things) were sent with Priority Mail (a bit more expensive but I received it in 6 working days and was trackable). It was marked 30USD, and postage was 30.78USD.
Proxying from Italy is not worth maybe if you send just some sets at time.
About the switches I think they are black. Did you receive one keyboard yet BiNiaRiS?

So is it really a bad idea to ship it in bubble wrap? I thought a reinforced envelope could be an idea to save some money...

Yes also if the keycaps are hard enough they can break easily

I'm interested in arrow keys and the Tab key, would pay about 10€ with shipping.

Not gonna be breaking these up.

Good news though, the seller quoted me $78 shipping for ALL 20 boards.

As for the switch type, it should be either browns or clears, but we'd really have to work something out if I was going to remove 2000 switches from these keyboards. The first board I bid on I have not paid for since I was waiting on a group buy like this.

The large flat rate box is 12" x 12" x 5-1/2" That is too big? Even if taxes are a bit higher I'm pretty sure it would be negated by the low shipping prices. I can throw in a receipt for the keyboards. It would show they were $20 a piece and they should be able to tell that the keyboard parts aren't there.

do it this way. its faster than removing key caps. spring and stem arent damaged:

you want to ship all the 20 sets in a large flat rate box? I think the size is good. And if it's just keycaps maybe you don't even need a receipt but just mark it as replacement parts. I'd even consider to ship with a courier like Fedex/UPS/DHL.
But yet we need more interest for the keycaps.

As for removing the switches, well depends from the buyer but remember those are NEW switches, I'd take the whole switch.

Which would be even more time to delsolder 2000 switches.

You don't need to desolder 2000 switches, just that many the buyer wants to buy. And if I'd tip you for sure for doing that or ask you to just ship the broken PCB in bubble wrap or something like that.

They rely on the declared value if it's reasonable.

40$ is more than reasonable value for a set of keycaps, as the average value of most keyboards is well below that price point.

No one will look further then.

If instead the value is clearly tricky, likely a random value is applied (and this still shouldn't be a be problem for keyboards, but can be a big problem for photograph equipment, wrist watches, jewels and so on).

I've just received a keyboard from BiNiaRiS, declared 40$, no custom fee, nor additional feeding fees were applied

Shipping 1 or 2 maybe. But 20 pcbs to Europe from the US is gonna be costly.

I know but maybe somebody who doesn't need the keys but only the switches would be interested.

Well as I said in the PM, I'm interested in one set.

User avatar
Grond

So, considering the keycaps, up until now the interested people seems to be:
- Grond x1
- xbb x2
- Half Saint x1
- Dux x1 (only arrows and tabs)
- foliolio [GH] x1
I don't really think we'll reach the 20 goal, but we can still have a good deal for 5-10 sets, isn't it?

BiNiaRiS

06 Aug 2011, 23:37

yeah, i think if we can at least get 10 we'd be in good shape. We can let this go through the weekend, and see where we're at. 10 sets should easily be shippable in the $60 box.
