Truth! I have tried two Alps boards in my life: An old Dell (SKCM black) and an old Chicony (SKCM white) and neither was very good, quite scratchy, and bad tactility as well...

yes now that own two NIB Focus keyboards I know how much better really clean ones feel.

That's the way. I like to be fussy with them. My 3 Alps boards are all in great shape (one came in its original box and another under a hard lid): two AEK IIs and an SGI Granite. All damped tactile (one white, two cream) and all nicer than any tactile MX, as well as a hell of a lot quieter. I need to make an ADB converter to get the AEKs in rotation though. And master the SGI protocol for the non-PS/2 Granite.

It's interesting reading some of the comments about the Cherry beige mods set in my groupbuy. Granted it's larger than many people would think is necessary at first glance. But most of you are forgetting that Cherry made dozens of shades of 'beige' between 1984 and 2009. You need all those keys so it can be uniform colors. I'm not sure how many of people have tried to build set from various different other sets to fill a particular board, but it can be hard enough finding the right key only to end up with something that is shades off ruining the look you were trying to make in the first place. Additionally I wanted to include as many keys as was somewhat reasonable to also cover some of the less than standard models, customs and etc for a one time superpack.

@Ivan, I really doubt that we might see some "major" changes in mixing old beige color tones with new GMK beige mods. Even with my SP R2 moogle which have a different color (of course) I have to look very carefully to see the color mismatching... unless the room have so many light that I can spot it right away.

Maybe it would have turned out to be the more successful if somewhat cynical approach to first offer minimal moogle kits and then, when everyone is complaining about the mismatch between GMK beige and all kinds of Cherry beige, offer the full second color set ...

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to expensive for a broken unit, but still a pretty interesting find. The two I saw last year both sold for less than the starting price of this one although to be fair to the guy this one has way more accessories than the other listings, even though the actual MC400 is in much worse condition. It might be worth keeping an eye on it and seeing if it gets relisted for a less silly starting price.

Beat me to it. The colours of the caps in my picture (whilst it is no doubt a crap picture) are more accurate than the sellers - the caps are more like grey and dark grey as opposed to the standard Cherry beige and cream.

Oh yeah, that's our old pal M'er Forever, also known as 1avid_collector. Grumpy fellow, took things very personally and went on a few rants before eventually having all of his posts deleted. He did some nice 3d renderings of Model Ms, though.
