Hello guys! This will be my first post on Deskthority as well as my first attempt to make a keyboard. I have a few questions regarding the wiring of LEDs, matrices, and the TMK keyboard firmware. I'm going to use the Teensy 2.0 to do this.
First question about the TMK firmware: I'm thinking about adding reactive backlighting to the keys that would light up white LEDs when the key is pressed. Does TMK support this and how would I do this if TMK doesn't support this?
Oh, and I'm also thinking of adding an RGB LED to the base of the keyboard that changes color based on the characters per minute typed. How would I do that?
Second question about LEDs: how would I end up wiring the LEDs to accommodate this and wouldn't I have to have a resistor to reduce the voltage to the LED to not blow it out? What resistor do I use?
Third question about matrices: the rows for the matrix need to go to the inputs and to GRND does it not? As well as the LEDs.

I'm fairly sure TMK isn't great from a LED controller point of view. I can't say for certain though as none of my boards have backlighting so I haven't really looked at it. I think it can do some basic on/off/brightness level things but outside of that I don't know...
Hasu monitors the TMK thread on GH so that might get you a better reply, I'm not sure he follows DT as much.
Also, welcome! Be sure to check out matt3o's TMK firmware guide here for all you non-LED TMK related questions

Thanks you two! I'm hoping I can stay here a while. On second thought though, I realized I probably won't be using TMK to do my keyboard. The reason is because it's actually going to be a two key controller for the game osu and I can probably just code the controller using teensyduino.
