It's a true frankenboard
- Plate, modifiers & space bar from an AT101
- Command (right shift) & arrow down (FN) key from a M0118
- Alpha keys from an Acer rubber dome
- Switches from an AEK2

And if someone's wondering about the raised "Application" key: That's the "FN lock" key with a locking switch underneath for when I need arrows or F1-F12 for an extended period, e.g. going through emails or sessions in the debugger

I have also used the plate off a Dell but even if the short shift and pinky Fn are something I love in all my other 60%'s I just couldn't bear the thought of having weird caps on the keyboard, my OCD needs a clean look I envy you for your courage

I need both Esc and backtick on a regular basis, so putting either of them in a layer wasn't really an option for me… So I thought if I need to modify the plate anyways, I might as well try this pinky Fn thing
After a day of use, I found the off profile Command key annoying enough that I'm now using a 1.5U cap for right shift until I can find a 1.75U one…

Very nice ! What kind of cable/adaptor have you used for the keyboard? I'm interested in doing the same thing.

I just bought a Triumph Adler Gabriele 7700L typewriter to scavenge the keycaps.
It was on sale near my home, I bought it for 15€
They're AZERTY layout from Belgium which is what I use daily... but not all key match the actual BE layout
I tried to convert to QWERTY but then I have troubles when I get back to AZERTY
But finding a ISO FR-BE set seem very hard...
The typewriter: A free MX black inside I disassembled the key caps: And temporarily mounted them on a cheap G80-8200LPDDE that I have: They need some cleaning though, when I'll have a bit of time.
I plan to mount them on the TKL I'm trying to build...
What do you think, is this an interesting find?
I found some more on local auction sites, if someone wants a set

Tad Williams' books have a perfect height for repairing Model Ms (my wooden construction is not here, as always: the tools I need are not were I need them)! Anybody read Tad Williams? And not only Tolkien?
I bought a full sized Model M found at a local craig list, in very good condition, almost no rivets broken (I counted only two, and the rest could not break off easily), German language, for my fathers birthday, I hope he likes it. I know that chances are low he will actually use it, but at work he could type on it just for a day as a show-off for the colleagues - "hey, this guy is bad-ass typing on this clunky old keyboard". He is journalist, and we always had a lot of typewriters at home.
A good backpack is the one were a full sized Model M fits perfect inside:
