Here is video with the sound difference:

Edit: one more sound video:
GMK presentation video:

Edit2: These clips are not compatible with plate mounted switches.
After listening carefully to the videos, it seems that these things dampen mainly the sound of the keycaps hitting the switch case and not much of the return sound of the slider hitting the case on the inside.
I managed to do the same effect with some rubber foam sheets ant at a fraction of the cost: http://imgur.com/a/BmQ6b

Try my DIY 2mm rubber foam sheets solution http://imgur.com/a/BmQ6bterrycherry wrote: ↑oh, that suitable with my PCB mount numeric pad!

The GMK clips seem dampen most of the sound on the downstroke but not much of the return one, also they are not plate compatible

I saw this the other day on MD, couldn't bring myself to pay that much for it though, especially with the chance of customs looming over me.
If there is a European GB, I might just get a set to see what they are like.

derzemel: Thanks for your DIY tips!
I think another DIY should make it more slient for PCB mount:
Do the DIY from derzemel. Then desolder the switch and put 4 pieces of 2mm foam rubber to the four corner of downside the switch. Finally, soldered the switch with that foam rubber.
It's could silent the sound of pressed and return.

Hmmm... I still prefer the trampoline mod: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=50632.0
Plate mount compatible and keycap-independent.

UNIQEY will open soon and I'm sure these will be available also in EU because GMK is in Germany. I wanted to get some but to pay for these that are made in EU to be shipped from US and pay also taxes no thanks

And think of the CO2 fingerprint every dampening unit has then!DanielT wrote: ↑I wanted to get some but to pay for these that are made in EU to be shipped from US and pay also taxes no thanks

So these don't actually damp MX's greatest flaw: that harsh, unstoppable topping out? And they're incompatible with plate mount? And they're Europe made but shipping from America? Aaaand Massdrop is running this?

I wonder if Cherry would sell only the sliders from the new MX Silent switches? It would be perfect to mod the old switches without buying a damn whole keyboard...

To me the clips sounded like they dampen the upstroke when listening to the linear comparison. If they do, it would make them worth it in my view if you have a board with pcb mounted linears. Other switch types will make noise anyway so I think it is kind of pointless for those. So while there is limited potential usage, they could still shine when used in the right setup. The maker of that video also gave the clips a good review and said they don't really affect the feel of the switch like mods do. I may take the plunge on this since I do own a pcb mounted linear keyboard.

Do you think Cherry wont sell only the sliders?! Honestly, I'm not so sure... if they sell individual mx switches, why not sell also only sliders? I think it's a matter on contacting them or asking Robin if he can make this possible only for our community... it worth a try!!Muirium wrote: ↑You neatly answered your own question.
