heya 7bit, just wanted to reconfirm something about the Spacebar, will it fit FC500 Leopold? since i have been informed by some friends stating that FC200 and FC500 spacebar Stem distance are different, so i would like to have some confirmation over this. and wanted to know the space bar will fit which one.

i just finish the measurements. and would like 7bit to provide the confirmation.

They won't fit on FC500R and future Leopold newer Models.
FC500R measurement are apart 42.5mm , and stem to edge are 16.5mm.

IF what 7bit is planning for Spacebar is this measurement:
6.25 units, 118mm wide, 3 keymounts, 40mm apart for Leopold.
They will only be compatible with FC200 Tenkeyless model, and will not be able to fit on future Leopold Models.

I advice changing the spacebar measurement to the one i provided above, one of the main reasons is FC200 Tenkeyless will be soon replace by new FC700 Tenkeyless, which will be using same measurement from FC500 series.

Sample has just been manufactured last week, i will probably be receiving the final version of the keyboard next month, when i gotten the keyboard, i will post the pictures of the FC700 in both geekhack and deskthority when i receive them.

Why are they producing keyboards with incompatible space bars?

the main reason is because of Leopold changing manufacturer, previously FC200 OEM was Datacomp.

But due to some quality issue, they will be dropping Datacomp soon. (But i'm sorry for not be able to reveal Leopold current OEM, because i'm not allowed)

Either you inform all of your SpaceLeo order regarding to the spacebar is not compatible with Leopold FC500. Or FC500 Owners will gonna be quite pissed with this if once they receive the keycaps and realize spacebar does not fit their keyboard.

Or contacting all people that ordered SpaceLeo keycap, and ask them what keyboard they owned.
if overall order are User of FC500 > User of FC200.
i suggest to contact signature plastic and discuss with the issue. If nothing can be work out, inform all FC500 users regarding to this issue, and ask if they wanted to continue on with thespacebar order.

if overall order are User of FC200 > User of FC500.
You can continue with the order, but do remember inform all Leopold FC500 users that spaceleo will not fit their keyboard, so please cancel them, if they don't want them.

Personally, i do not wish to see you getting more hater because of spacebar issue, a lot of users has been misunderstand that SPACELEO space bar order will definitely fit their FC500 keyboard, once they find out it's not, you're gonna receive another wave of mail complaint as well as getting more 7bit hater members.

there's already round 3 hater, i hope round 4 hater can be avoided.

I collect orders for them separately, but if there are not at least 12 orders, I will combine them to a NORDIC kit. I've got to check f ES can be part of that as well. FR will be separate, because it does not share one key with the other European layouts.
