Codemonkeymike: How long did it take for it to be shipped from there? I have been eying purchasing one but the switches and the shipping have been holding me back?

They shipped within 4 day's, but the shipping part was about 8 days to Eastern USA. I got the cheapest shipping, the box was beaten up but everything worked just fine.

ErgoDox with backlight… nowhere, except ErgoDox Infinity from Massdrop ("soon"), or a custom order of this PCB design.

PCBs support it, firmware did not at the time of the drop, thus they didn't list the feature in the description. If it isn't already implemented, it will be eventually.

so if the firmware doesn't support it, why not adding another controller/firmware exspecially for lights?

Somebody must write that firmware. You can be the one!

I have no idea what you mean.

The ED Infinity drop ran some time in summer. It had holes for LEDs on the PCBs. HaaTa posted, that he hadn't managed to implement relevant backlight support in the Kiibohd firmware. That's it. Maybe things have changed in the meantime.

Either way, the drop/shipment has apparently been yet another clusterfuck, thus there are very few opportunities to get that keyboard at this point, and I don't particularly care either, because it only "standardizes" firmware, improves interconnection, adds Alps-/Matias-switch support and potentially adds backlight… at the cost of reducing layout options, removing support for PCB-mounted switches and having to deal with Massdrop again.

Wow I didn't know about that website either, seems to be a very good option for people that live in Europe!

Does anyone know if the PCB on the shop supports ALP switches? As they seem to cut the plate themselves, it should be possible to get a ALP's compatible plate. Or at least that's what I think.

Edit: Oh, they seem to have an ALP's plate already. Didn't see that. :?
