IBM Model M 1391405 Spanish for 40 euro shipping included.

I bought from this seller the same keyboard but much more clean for 35 euro, shipping included. Today it has been marked for shipment, my first Model M yay. Altough there is something strange, the one I bought has a yellowed space bar. Model M space bar is PBT, isn't it?

Curious after I just bought mine, he started to sell another one, but in worst condition for 5 euro more, or maybe in better condition? mh..

Not sure if I count, but: nearly all Model M keyboards have a PBT Space bar. Some - a very few, mostly built in Greenock, have ABS Space bars. If nothing else, replacement PBT Space bars are readily available from Unicomp and they're really not so bad.

I should really update wiki/IBM_Enhanced_Keyboard. Most Model Ms have a PVC casing.

No, they have crazy Health & Safety rules here, so they wanted grounded spacebars, so they made them out of ABS and clipped a metal bit to it to protect you from the evil electricity.

Honestly what is it with the fear of electricity here? The wall sockets have goddamn on/off buttons on them Oo .

America is nervous, but some of it serves a purpose. GFCIs are standard in bathroom building codes at least. I must say that grounding a space bar due to a 5 volt milliamp-current electrical source is excessive, though.

I didn't think that was paranoia so much as energy savings. It's nice to know that your devices at idle use Zero Watts instead of zero-ish.

I'm not a fan of our vastly oversized cartoon power plugs here in Britain. So needlessly BIG.



BUT! I am a fan of how the cables are routed down the wall. Our plugs have the cable come out down at the bottom. American plugs jam it straight out the back, which makes for really ugly wiring nests beside beds and tables.

I can see one trick in a cable out the back: you can grab the cable and pull it out directly with one big yank on the thing. But is that useful? It encourages people pulling the cable instead of the plug, which is poor form and wears down the insulation or plain breaks the plug. If you really must CUT THE POWER RIGHT NOW then flip the switch, right there on the wall socket. That's the advantage of our ones. And similar systems worldwide.
