Almost certainly foam and foil since that's all BTC used back in those days, but pretty cool-looking anyway. I've had my eye on it, if it stays cheap I might pick it up :) .
The LEDs on the modifiers look just like Keytronic F&F. :)
Yeah, Key Tronic appears to have made their boards for them at the start (until they blatantly stole the idea and made their own F&F boards from then on xD).

Whoever posted those laptops, thanks! Actually got something really nice for a change. Keyboard has the Dolch type coloring to it (unfortunately seems pad-print) but it has dark Cherry MX Blues (these things feel 1000x nicer than modern switches) with amber Omron switches for the mods! This thing is very interesting.

Interesting! Do these MX Dark Blue differ in construction from normal MX Blue?

There is a picture thread with something like this from a few months back. Can't search for it on mobile.

I'll probably take the keyboard out in the next few days and take one of them apart to see how it differs, or if it was just a better moulding process by Cherry. These are the first Cherry MX switches that I've actually substantially liked.

One of the only times I've seen a full board with those. Very nice. I'd love to get my hands on those and compare them to vintage blues.

I was really close to getting it for myself but I'm trying to focus my keyboard funds on my main projects, so off to great finds it went. I'm glad it was worthwhile. Ironically, a good clicky MX switch is something I'd be very interested in. I'm curious to see more!

Wow that's quite a rare find.
How can those be for a keyboard? There are screws on the top face and the contacts are exposed on the side.
That is what i thought as well. Also size and form remind me about a sort of limit switch.

That switch looks very much like the Micro Switch magnetic reed switch that pyrelink and myself found in our respective keyboards. I wrote "quite a rare find" because I imagine that these have not been manufactured in a long time. Old stock.

I have seen those vintage MX blues before Blaise170, awesome find. I used to think that the slider just looked darker in the picture. Of course you will have to add these to our Cherry MX page. ;) Crazy that they used Omron switches for the mods.

If it's anything like the 386 version I have, it'll be nice Alps doubleshots on not so amazing Alps discrete dome switches:

The keyboard was a gift from the venerable Beardsmore. I don't have the rest of the computer.

AEK II -- Poor picture quality, but it looks clean and unyellowed. Price is nothing special but maybe worth it if it's as good as it looks.

The unyellowed spacebar says it all. Looks great. I've got two in similar condition. Shy to nab the caps off them!

Yep, that ABS space bar is always a surefire indicator. For comparison, here's another Apple just posted from the same seller but with considerable yellowing.

Strong Man reused the same FCC ID on a bunch of their boards. DSI was one of their bigger buyers.

You lost your bet. I loathe modular stuff like separate function row keyboards. Look at all the wasted space around the edges of the chassis! If it hasn't got the alpha block, it's not a keyboard, it's an add-on. Anathema!

It's either SPSTs, early Hi-Teks, or Magnetic Reeds. Doubt it's Honeywell Hall Effect. I'm only making those guesses based on the fact that it looks industrial.
