I'm just taking advantage of the fact that you can post polls on DT...
Now, before you jump on me, I do, I do genuinely feel that Obama is like a snake. I felt that back in 2007 when I was watching his past speeches, and felt the snake-oil lawyer (or teacher of lawyers) sleaze in his careful words, his calculated stance, his hedging, his avoidance of concrete stances that could be used against him in future, etc.
Hillary Clinton the practicing lawyer is even more of a snake than Obama.
I have this deep, visceral feeling that most Democrats (eg Bill Clinton) are snakes.
Surprisingly, although I despise the Republican party, I really do not see them as snakes. I sincerely see them as human.
This is NOT praise for the GOP. It simply means that when I am thinking of analogies in the animal kingdom to use, and I want an analogy of an animal that is hateful, self destructive, self deceiving, environmentally unfriendly, egotistical, greedy, unnecessarily aggressive even when it doesn't benefit them - the only animal I can think of is man.
(Poll has 2 options per user so you can air your views of both parties

I wonder you haven't included options like "Niggers are monkeys" and "Jews are rats".
Sincerely, can't you make use of arguments when discussing?

This isn't even vaguely related to keyboards. I doubt it will do much to improve your sales.
This poll has zero votes at present. Please, let's keep it this way.

I suspect there has been a mod intervention here.
The poll had definitely 3 votes (guess from who) when I visited it,
and I don’t remember the last item of the poll having already been there.
I am opposed to censorship.
I prefer a fierce argument battle over preventing others from expressing their opinions.
This being said, couldn’t those clueless, antipathy-driven kids just refrain from scattering their disgusting crap all over the place?

This is just like asking who's better, Satan or the devil. Answer: they both suck ass!
I'm convinced there will never be another good US politician. The electorial system nor the country would ever allow it.
The same is probably true for the UK as well.

I think Politica-thority needs more forum topics. Preferably related to computer peripherals, hence the 'Desk'thority name. I like the way GH has many topics to discuss about. This way people are more encouraged to partake and discuss those topics, than completely non-related things. Besides off-topic, it feels like currently there are only vintage keyboards to talk about.

Fuck this politics discussions here. Also I remember thread opener talking about there was no holocaust or how the Nazis were great at GH a while ago.

Dehumanizing your opponents? What could possibly go wrong…
Good job I'm not forum dictator. I'd be thinking aloud about stripping Beserker's threadspinning privileges.

Mad, I take issue with your dishonest rendition of things I've said.
Regarding Nazis, I did once make a joking remark about Photekq being Hitler. He wasn't offended. For some reason he had Hitler as his avatar for a couple months on geekhack, which of course raised my eyebrows.
Regarding Nazis being great, I made a somewhat more nuanced and philosophical observation that the Nazis did a power of vast, unintended good to non Europeans. They created hell in Europe, but that weakened all colonial empires and allowed the vast majority of the human race to be freed (or free themselves) in the subsequent decades.
The thread was never deleted or drew moderator hostility, so it should be around somewhere. GH being US-based, there is a whole lot less sympathy to Eurocentrism. For instance, I supplied an alternative perspective to the European narrative that they had suffered under the Nazis. The Dutch had ONE hungry winter under the Nazis. They gave the Indonesians 300 hungry winters. Plus as a guy who had to read Southeast Asian history for his exams, I was quite aware of the Plantation System on Java, which was in-situ slavery of the native population and led to malnutrition because people were forced to plant cash crops. And of the many massacres and brutal revolt suppressions in Indonesia over the past few hundred years.
I pointed out, even the Nazis' holocaust is no more terrible than the holocaust the Belgians inflicted on the Congolese. Just that in Eurocentric renditions of history, killing white Jews is a bad thing, but killing black Africans, well, just statistics for footnotes in history books. http://www.walkingbutterfly.com/2010/12 ... ed-hitler/
Furthermore, all that nonsense about the Allies liberating people from the Nazis didn't translate into freedom for non-white peoples. The Dutch and the British didn't learn from the Nazis that racial supremacism and aggression is a bad thing. They invaded Indonesia almost immediately after Germany surrendered, and tried to reestablish colonial rule with lots of violence. And of course you could say the same thing for Algeria, Vietnam, Kenya, and all the other people who had to shed blood to kick out the fascist occupiers colonial imperialists. Frankly, if the Nazis hadn't weakened UK enough for the Japanese to march into Singapore and inflict what Churchill called the worst military disaster in British history, I might be pulling a rickshaw for some European planter today.
So while the Nazis were definitely bad people, they did non-Western humanity unintended good. Over 90% of the world's population is non white, and most of these people gained their freedom as a result of the collapse of colonial empires after WW2.

Sorry, I really wrote nonsense and wrong accusations! Again I read through the posts, but I do think that there is absolutely no need for comparisons who was when more evil. It just sounds a little bit like belittlement (at least for me), maybe because of not reading correctly - as you pointed out several times.berserkfan wrote: ↑Mad, I take issue with your dishonest rendition of things I've said.
