These are Cherry MX, but what happened to the keycaps? Did these sit in a hot storage unit for years?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/322034203259
Logitechs, might be good to flip if you replace the keycaps.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/121917339929
Nice terminal boards, most likely domes or foam and foil though.

There's three boards in a lot on eBay right now I'm not sure if I should post about for fear of someone being all "dammit, E3E, I was waiting on that one!"

Let the games begin!

We can't see if the Dell has dots or bars for the homing keys; this is the easiest way to tell apart a Silitek old logo and an Alps Electric old logo.
But that DC-3014, yep. And the middle one? Looks like a Chicony 5181.
EDIT: Looking at the upside down picture of the Dell AT101, it actually looks like the rare variant with Alps Electric Doubleshot caps. I say this because of the legend size of its asterisk key and minus key.
The only model I've seen with such caps was the Japanese-made one on TaoBao.
The indicator light film is also the same color, though I thought this was just yellowing at first. Seems not.
By the way, those are pine SKCM Black, so they probably feel quite nice. I know someone who even prefers them to SKCM Salmon and Orange.

It's probably going to hurt my final auction price by a hair, but I don't think the DC-3014 pictured there is in near-mint condition. The cap shine is practically blinding me, and that's just on the escape key!
I've been curious whether these Everex 'boards were space invaders for a while... Nice grey keycaps. Here's a definitive answer:

It's the difference of wanting to get one as a fix-er-upper on the cheap or get one in mint condition that you can drive off the lot (ie, slap on your desk and feel good using right away). I tend to like fix-er-uppers, both because fuhq the crazy prices and because it lets me get really attached to the boards I work on.ohaimark wrote: ↑It's probably going to hurt my final auction price by a hair, but I don't think the DC-3014 pictured there is in near-mint condition. Like, my FK-555 might be mint, but there's not as much personal attachment to it compared to boards I've slaved on to get looking amazing again.
The Dell AT101 is an exception. It's just so boring. My sentiments faded for that one after a while. Actually, I should take it out again and use it for a while. I might be unfairly judging it, come to think of it.
With 5 restrorations in a week's time (not including the mice, which took two days), and 4 being so in-depth, I'm getting tired of doing this, haha. The Datapoint Acer KB101A is nearing its final portion of restoration; just the bottom case and the caps... So ready to be done with this H202 nightmare.

I know the feeling, E3E. I'm almost ready to run my 43 keyboard auction tomorrow. I didn't necessarily need to, but I deep cleaned some of the more valuable keyboards. It sucks up a lot of time...
I can't say I agree with the restoration part, though. I guess I don't develop the kind of attachments you do to things that I work on.

Oh yeah, it's certainly not something everyone feels, that's for sure. I'm a pretty passionate person when I get into something, be it a hobby or a craft, whatever. I kind of personify the boards to a degree; I just see a lot of character in them and I'm a mild collector in the sense that I like hanging onto things that are special to me.ohaimark wrote: ↑I know the feeling, E3E. There is part of me that could just sell everything I own and move on like you do, hahaha, but that part is largely overridden by the more sentimental side.
Sometimes I do just consider selling everything and getting out of this way-too-addictive hobby.
Purging is never the answer though. I'd just end up missing them.

As I mentioned before, I have two salmon Alps At101s and a black Alps AT101 on the way and I have to agree It has its good qualities but it really doesn't inspire. I said I wouldn't but I will probably end up selling them all. Maybe those nice keycaps will stay my hand.E3E wrote: ↑ The Dell AT101 is an exception. It's just so boring. If you do something like that don't admit to it publicly. I'm pretty sure that at least one member here was going to bid on that, and you just made yourself look like a major ass.itzmeluigi wrote: ↑Just bought this from the seller directly wooo

Not sure about the legal situation abroad, but if you pull an item out of an active auction (with bids) the highest bidder can sue you here in Germany. People have pulled cars out of auction with an active 1€ bid and had to pay the difference between the estimated value and the highest bid to the highest bidder. Might be a very different thing abroaditzmeluigi wrote: ↑I always send direct offers to every seller on bids even for non keyboard related stuff. Carrying on

I was the highest bidder Although cars are much more serious transactions, is that with Ebay for the cars or a real auction? If its Ebay i doubt they would enforce it.Wodan wrote: ↑Not sure about the legal situation abroad, but if you pull an item out of an active auction (with bids) the highest bidder can sue you here in Germany. Yes, I spy 11 rubberdomes and one definite MY or MX canditate. Best case scenario, MX, though in that case I think it unlikely that it's anything other than MX Black. Worst case, MY. However, I see scoops so it should be thick lasered PBT keycaps, which are OK in their own right. Whether it's worth that much to anyone is up to them.Wodan wrote: ↑Lot of 12 "old" keyboards for 10€ + 10€ shipping:

Well, 65$ seems a bit high for a new-ish IBM, with no original logo in 122 form factor. At least you have those colorful legends. And certainly in better shape than that yellowed old Alps keyboard! And when you write "clicky" on an IBM it's the kind of clicky that you would want! They MADE the clicky computer keyboard.
Nowadays sellers just attach it to any mechanical keyboard, hell sometimes they slap this name on any keyboard that looks older than a few years.

I don't know. The PS/2 versions are unusual and desirable, as is a non-IBM label (to some people at least). A complete set of caps is a very good thing (especially a straight complete set of F1-F-24 all there!) and may of us consider the blue sub-legends to be the most desirable of all the colors.shreebles wrote: ↑
