I'm sure they would have. It's late in Germany so I don't fault the seller. Maybe one of you nice German fellows will sell me yours if you don't like it?seebart wrote: ↑Don't be sour Tuntematon! I'm sure the seller would have responded to you if they had not sold out.

Nah, it's the nature of the thread. You hope people don't post the things you want but everything is fair game. seebart, I posted a mini-review somewhere in this thread a little while ago, I will dig that up.

That's funny, because I added those pictures to the wiki (the other FAME with blue Alps is mine ), and just picked off the other FAME variant's images from the eBay listing that I noticed floating around for a good time before it was finally purchased.Tuntematon wrote: ↑Of course not. The TH-5539 in the Wiki is mine! I bought it never having tried it before. I'd like another because mine has some broken switches. Do you only ever buy stuff you already know?
The caps that originally came on my FAME (which I also ANSI-modded, f that wasn't obvious), were very much like the Cherry profile caps on the Aruz boards, but they were icky pad printed caps. Funny, for being such a well-made board, it had very lack luster caps.

Hmm well from what I have read now the Aruz switch is a good cross between Alps SKCM Blue, SMK Alps mount and KPT. Hope that's true and mine has got nice caps. But heck, € 70 for a NIB is good anyway.

Nobody was going for it so I made an offer . I hope I wasn't premature in my judgment of Aruz. The Chyros method (2 weeks of everyday use) really is a good way to go about it and I didn't come close to that. I know I like the switch feel but it's possible they are too stiff for extended use. Especially the space bar. For me, the weighting of SMK is better, no doubt about it, and weight is a big deal.
As for the Wiki description, I can see the comparison to KPT, but the click description just isn't so. It is louder and deeper than SMK, not at all silent.

Eh, comparisons are a little subjective anyway. They can help give you an -idea- of the switch feel, but the only way you'll ever know for sure is by trying the switch yourself.
Like the description for SKCM Green have a higher actuation point or tactile point is kind of funky, because IMO, all alps have a high actuation and tactile point.
Speaking of which, I need to get my lazy butt to editing that page.

Those pop up every now and then. The one people really want is the one that has the trackball next to the arrow keys.

Any idea what this might be? Doesn't seem like an IBM board.

Also, a NIB IBM RT 6247440, seems like a very fascinating board.

Oof, looked like foam and foil switches.
The RT apparently uses Brother dome over membrane. There's a neat album here:
