I recently noticed that one of the Silver badge Model M's that I have is dated 1992. The internal plate is marked with a 1992 date. There is even a 1992 date printed on the back side of the upper half of the case. I am not very knowledgeable in Model M's but it was my understanding that only earlier M's had the square silver badge. This board is a terminal board which may factor into it. I can take some pictures if need be.

The latest silver label model M's that I recall were from 1996.

Its been a few years since I found them, but I too was surprised that the numbers were all in the same range.
IBM was very careful to assign unique ID numbers from 1985-1992.. but in later years, there were duplicate numbers assigned as Lexmark cared less and less...

That was a very "short run" of 1390131s in the 1990s, wasn't it?
Do they have the heavy internal plates?

I have only seen the thicker internal "shiny" metal plates on 1985, 1986 and on early 1987 model M's
For example, 1987 IBM model M (1390131) from 27 MAR 87 http://clickykeyboards.com/product/ibm- ... 27-mar-87/
