If I was willing to pay that much for the 5161 I would gamble, even at that price. I am very confident it's blue Alps. Never hurts to ask though.

If it is does have Alps SKCM Blue $139.99 is actually moderate considering the mad prices we've seen this year. The Chicony KB-5161 itself was produced with any of Alps SKCM Blue, Alps SKCM White, Cherry MX Blue, Taiwan white and black shaft, White Mitsumi miniature mechanical. But this is Samsung branding. Looks to be in good shape too. Good luck to whoever is buying.

Also Omron and SMK!
I think the KB-5161 holds the record for most switches used in a single model.
Chicony wins the award for giving the fewest fucks about switches of any manufacturer. They really weren't picky. They probably just bought whatever was on sale any given week

The one with Samsung branding that I flipped for $160 or so recently had Blue Alps and was deep cleaned. I think the Samsung top label adds value to a keyboard.
I'd value the one in the listing at about $125ish considering the VTI top label. It otherwise looks like it's in good shape -- not much yellowing...

If anyone is from MA, NH, or VT in the United States, this looks rather interesting. I had no idea that there were Sperry-branded computers into the DOS era. I haven't the foggiest idea of what kind of switches it might have.

Rare! Auerbach, Germany! Surely these are important keywords that make this worth $299.99....

At least the cable is kind of neat.

I don't think that photekq cares about G80-1000HAUs, actually.
Chyros, a G80-1000 isn't worth much per se, maybe around 30€, a tad more if ANSI. The keycaps are what definitely drive the price.
But 299$ for a G80-1000HAU in that condition isn't a good price. That cable though!

If it were BNIB it'd be worth about $175-200 because of the keycaps, which are worth $150 alone. But it isn't.

Maybe if it was BNIB... I think that label says 2001 (mfg. date), so probably nothing vintage.quochung1989 wrote: ↑It's worth or not?

Really? Why is that? Did you find a gaylord full of Alps SKCM Blue NIB dead stock that you're selling for cents to the dollar?emdude wrote: ↑Don't think he knows that the blue Alps hype is more or less over now.

Not denying that blue Alps prices are still high, but by the "hype" I was referring to the several hundred dollar prices on blue Alps boards earlier in the year. Those prices were driven mostly by greedy sellers and troll bids.
Donor boards like the DC-2014 have been consistently going for $100-130, and ohaimark's Alec's Samsung board went for only $160. Not sure if you've seen it either, but people on GH have been finding $15 blue Alps boards on Taobao the past week or so too.
Like I said, that seller has had that Focus board up for a very long time and no takers.

I know. But it's still a "hype". Even $150 for that is "hyped". About a year before you registered here I bought a NTC 6151 with Alps SKCM Blue for 1 Euro! Go back a couple of years further and I guarantee you these were not even selling for 1$ !! All this is "hyped". Because of us, GH and reddit and ebay etc.

Haha, that's true, it's all your guys' fault I can't have cheap keyboards!!
Then again, as many other people said, ebay is not the best place to find good deals.
I suppose blue Alps are still hyped, but for now, I think their prices have stabilized a bit.

Those are not Alps SKCM. That slider looks like SMK Alps mount or some other clone. The wiki needs to be updated constantly, but few are actually putting in the work, most just like to talk about it.

Be aware that Commodore used all kinds of switches for their Amiga Keyboards, so if one has Alps compatible caps it doesn't mean that all of them do.

It is interesting for sure, I cannot tell 100% from the picture what switch it is! The slider looks a little like SMK Alps mount.
