Yeah, way better than the 1st gen keyboard, which has always striked me as being more of a calculator keypad than a keyboard. :P
So what are your thoughts on it? And any possibility of a teardown? :)
Sorry for the late reply, I should be getting the boards sometime tomorrow or the day after. I don't have a nice camera at the moment but I can certainly do a quick teardown. :)

"Yeah, japanese quality you know... got RSI, that's, äh, never mind, got some malady of playing to much piano and with this keyboard you can write with nearly no fatique at all..." Him: "Ah..." Me: "And it has bluetooth!" Him: "Ah, cool!"
Better than paying such a amout for rims, right?
Thanks for that HHKB report, now we need a comparison to the regular non-BT version :P
How much did you have to pay total, with tax?
The fn position has become quite popular, I like it personally but always have a second FN on the left (capslock). I guess no HHKB for me because I really prefer CTRL on the bottom row.

What kind of PCB did you use?

HHKB + Hasu and you can have your FN anywhere you like.

You will need to find a better reason to stay away from the HHKB.

Uuhm... Price :D

<Insert obligatory "it's just rubber domes" comment here.>

Rubber domes it is. But it is heavenly to type on, it's a totally other keyboard than the cheap rubberdomes you can get everwhere.

I paid what you would expect. You'll have to pay the 19% extra at customs but nothing else, there seems to be no extra percentage on keyboards. Pretty pricey, but you only live once.

Thanks. It's a clueboard. I'm still not sold on getting the alu case from MD thus this will be its case for a while.

Sure. Will try to get some proper pics by the weekend.

I think keyboards should fall under a 0% customs charge EU-wide. In Sweden, however, we have to pay a €11 euro customs charge for having the customs office looking at our parcels, which I find a little ridiculous, but hey. Also 19% VAT is not so bad. Try 25. :D

I'm really liking your Clueboard, I have been thinking about getting an Alps one for a little while now. Where did you get your corkboard case?

Ouch, that doesn't seem very consumer-friendly. 25% is harsh...

Customs in Germany is alright most of the time, I think. There are certain cases when the just have problems to keep up, but if you are ordering express and the vendor puts a recipe on the outside in a clear bag it normally works out fine.

Thanks. Its from a corkboard that's around 1cm thick. Used a plain office cutter, ruler and some sand paper and thats about it. For the base just had to extend the blade as far as it goes so it bends then you can slice the board till you have the desired depth for the pcb placement.

Nice. Do the two parts stick together? How do you open it?

Good idea to add home+end keys instead of insert like on the FC660. Like, who the fuck uses their insert key?

Agree man. Same thought exactly on the insert key.

Double sided tape. Haha.. To open use a cutter to slowly split the two, to close new set of tape. Use some blu tack also to hold the pcb in place.

I have an idea, maybe use really thin velcro strips then you can open and close the board as many times as you like :)

User avatar

23 Jul 2016, 15:33

Thats a good one! Had spare neodyium magnets around but wasnt sure if thats gonna mess up the pcb so dropped the idea. The velcro thing though will add some style to the side of the case. Will definetly check that out. :)

Got a new lens for my camera and some surprisingly, despite their relative lack of vintage, smooth vintage blacks.

Ooh, where'd you get an ANSI 3000 PCB? Are you just desoldering the switches?

Got it off of Crossfire on the forum, and yeah, I'll just be desoldering the switches  .

Not at all, though, it's a 1000-PCB rather than a 3000. If you're still interested, I can check how much of a robbery it would be to ship it your way!

 yeah, it's my work daily driver and I love it a lot. I wish I could find a red, orange and green Esc and Enter keys for it, and some blank artisans for the arrows, insert and delete, and a red windowed Caps Lock, and a set of full gray dyesub alphas (like the ones on the black model), and.......

Then you might have to hang out at GH with the Korean clack masters. But the FC660C is soo nice, I need to get the white one you have with dyesubs also.

Some Chinese PBT dyesubs. They have a weird layout and profile -- only one keyboard in my collection could sport them.
