Just for your amusements, this guys product descriptions are so hillarious:
https://www.ebay.de/itm/201682071504
Check out his other items and read the descriptions, too. He's got so many things wrong ...
There is NOTHING ANSI about this keyboard yet he markets it as a dual layout keyboard!

It's similar in style to some foam & foil keyboards that XMIT showed me, though that isn't a definitive answer.tentator wrote: ↑check this out: https://www.ricardo.ch/kaufen/haushalt- ... 852292356/

never tried foam and foil.. not sure if it would appeal me.. (I'm into tactile switches, even better if clicky ) but this one has particularly beautiful caps.. but I think rather difficult to use on mx stems or ibm, right?
also the computer looks to be in very nice condition, probably even working, so it would be a little bit a pity and should rather go to some serious collector..

The MAJORITY of the key caps come from an iteration of the Tai Hao FAME TH-5539 keyboards.duynguyenle wrote: ↑I've never seen Cherry profile with Alps stem! I assume this requires a lot of donor stems and lots of time and patience for modding the stems?
Yep, Tai Hao actually had Cherry profile molds for ABS doubleshots with Alps stems back in the day, confirmed by an email with them!
I did stem mod the ANSI keys, as the caps came in a BAE and short shift (Focus) layout.
I actually have an earlier version of the TH-5539 that had Cherry profile pad-printed key caps. Weird, and only good for making blanks, but good quality mold still.

Looking closely at the legends, the profiles, and the fact that this one was made in Japan, I'm going to say Alps vintage tee mount with Alps vintage spherical caps.

The Ai system is reminiscent of a Honeywell Hall Effect, although the caps don't look quite tall enough. Difficult to say from the pics.

eeeeew. This one was born Feb 4, 1999 and built for IBM by Unicomp. This is the only series of IBM branded Model M13's that did not have a true trackpoint. This version comes with Unicomp's track stick instead, which acts more like a little mini-joystick, instead of like a relatively immobile pressure sensing Trackpoint.

I mean it's still industrial, it's still an M13, and it's still NiB. People pay upwards of 100 used for the black M13s, and those have crappy pad-printed legends.

You could take the innards from an old school beige IBM M-13 and drop it into one of Unicomp's overstock industrial gray cases (still being sold), and you'd end up with a superior overall keyboard to this.
But I suppose if you're a speculator or collector, this might be an okay investment.

That's what I thought, but they do have the equipment to make full-size cases, so if they can mix up the right color of plastic, they can probably make as many as they want.

What do the Olivetti rubber domes feel like when typing? Is there any tactility at all, as with Topre switches?

Imagine Topre switches with a 1/3 shorter travel.
I'm hesitating to get it myself. It's rare to see an ANSI one for sale in Europe, even more in that condition...

They have a very substantial and weighty tactility, for lack of a better description. This, combined with a very short throw (IIRC ~2mm) makes them quite unique and not really like rubber dome keyboards that most people are familiar with.
