As a collector piece it is fairly unique, but I think one or two of them went for sub-$100 not too long ago.

Meh they've gone for around $50 in the past and really aren't that special. Kinda feel bad for how much the buyer ripped himself off.

For $50 I would have bought it just for my collection.

Relisted. Buyer reconsidered (probably after reading the comments here):

Nice. Might have to pick one of these up, thanks for the heads up.lemur wrote: ↑Not a new find, but the much talked about IBM 4704 compatible vintage Alps SKCC 'pingmaster' boards of the Chinese variety that have been on sale for ages from a place in Ohio had their price reduced a bit, now at $22.01. Those in the USA can get one to their door for as little as $30.04 total.

Add another $30-50 for a converter to get the thing working and you got a pretty decent brand new board for a pretty reasonable price. Get em before they're gone!

Honestly, for a BRAND-NEW piece of classic IBM steel with switches like this, it's an absolute no-brainer.Ail wrote: ↑Nice. Yep. Didn't take but all of 5 minutes for me to decide. Hey Wodan, can you pencil me in your schedule in about 4 business days? I'm going to have some questions about installing that Pro Micro and what firmware to flash it with.Chyros wrote: ↑Honestly, for a BRAND-NEW piece of classic IBM steel with switches like this, it's an absolute no-brainer.Ail wrote: ↑Nice. I was the one that grabbed this, it came in the mail today and it works pretty well still. I am impressed! Now I cannot bring myself to tear it apart, though. I might pull the keycaps and put something else on there... but I think it will stay together for the most partHypersphere wrote: ↑IBM Wheelwriter 10 Series II Type 6783 Electric Typewriter

Unusual LE board. Full size, US ANSI layout. HOWEVER, see the caveats listed by the seller.

While it is a shame that some hidden gems on ebay might get a bit expensive I think we already had the cat out of the bag moment eons ago. With any random ebay person seemingly knowing a 'vintage clicky keyboard' is something that, whether it is good or not, theyll either put a high BIN price on, or a high reserve, or a high starting bid....... sometimes way more than what its worth.... its gonna be a tough battle to get a steal on something anyways, even without competition.

The seller of the LE DC-2214 has bought from me (not that one), he has some knowledge and experience.
The description looks to be fair and adequate, whether the price is too high is another question.

Wow, it's actually been sitting out there for most of a day at that great BIN price (historically speaking). I wonder if we're looking at a lull in demand for SSKs?//gainsborough wrote:SSK for $170 BIN and offers enabled.

Prices have never gotten back to that spike they hit about 2 years ago, when even dirty ugly ones were bringing $300.

I have that one it's heavy like hell!!!
A colleague of mine also has the one with blue bottom that he can still use to input to an emulated mainframe and get then output back on paper!! really crazy to see, he was recently showing this off together with a completely restored original IBM 360 panel full of leds and an FPGA driving them on a vintage computer exhibition in Zürich.. the SW emulated MF is by LzLabs.. don't know if anybody of you ever heard about this company..
from a keyboard enthusiast point of view tough I've to say that the keyfeel isn't so great to use in my opinion.. nothing like BS or so.. but the keycaps are actually really really nice.. those I think should even be beamspring compatible.. these infact do not have real circuits in them.. it's still all electromechanical!!
