That is the process, yes, and you can see how non-automated it is. They (Signature Plastics) actually do have some machines that produce 8 at a time now, and the operator (and her machine) that I observed was much faster than what you see in that video, but the whole process is nevertheless quite dependent on constant human involvement.
And yes, that is a large part of why production is slow and expensive. And you're only seeing half the process (the second shot)...there's also the first shot which produces the legend pieces, which you're not seeing in that video.

Yes, I was aware of the general process leading to the sprue marks, but on most of my sets, the marks are barely noticeable, and as I recall, they are usually on the back of the cap rather than on the front or side.
In any event, I just now finished installing the Honey Cream & Violet set on my Novatouch, and I am typing on it now. With all the caps in place, I do not notice the sprue marks, and overall the set looks fabulous.
Now, however, I better understand zslane's preference for full-size keyboards. Although I don't really need the functionality of a NumPad, I think that the SA profile with spherical tops and large legends needs to be displayed in full-size format.
I also wish I had ordered some keys in accent colors, such as gray, black, and/or red. As it stands, there's an overabundance of purple.
Usually I don't like the feel of ABS caps, but these are so super-smooth that I enjoy the contrast with my usual slightly grainy and dry PBT caps.
BTW, the NT sounds and feels great -- it has my Silencing Rings installed and I've lubed all the switch rails and stabilizers with Superlube 51010 oil. I also put shock absorbers under the spacebar. Moreover, I've plugged the NT into my Hasu USB-USB converter with HHKB-style remapping.
All in all, this is a unique and very pleasant typing experience. I am surprised how quickly I have adapted to the tall spherical caps after spending most of my life typing on Cherry or OEM profile caps with cylindrical tops.

Quick question, if I were to place the following order, would these all be in stock and ready to ship:
HONEYB/ALPHA/SPH
HONEYB/TKLBASE/VIOLETT
HONEYB/SPACE625/SPH
HONEYB/SPACE625/VIOLETT
HONEYB/SHIFT225/VIOLETT
I've already paid for my phase 2 caps a few months ago, but if I can get my hands on some phase 1 while I wait for phase 2, while also contributing to the phase 2 cause, I don't see why not thanks in advance!

Round 5 leftovers might help you there.Hypersphere wrote: ↑I also wish I had ordered some keys in accent colors, such as gray, black, and/or red. As it stands, there's an overabundance of purple.
I really enjoy the slightly spherical (as opposed to cylindrical) surface profile of SA caps. They are extremely satisfying to touch.Hypersphere wrote: ↑Usually I don't like the feel of ABS caps, but these are so super-smooth that I enjoy the contrast with my usual slightly grainy and dry PBT caps.
Did a leftover order with cadet alphas, round 5 stuff and HONEYB/SPACE625/SPH space bar. Got 2 shipping fees in my invoice. Is the space bar part of the grey kits and not produced yet or is it part of cadet color scheme and i did something wrong when ordering?
edit: fixed it with HONEYB command, hopefully it is everything ok now. Paid too, let the waiting beginn

Hypersphere, what shock absorbers do you use under the spacebar on your novatouch? I have your rings, which are fantastic, and I think I'm going to lube the stabilizers. The alpha keys sound great but the bigger keys are really clacky and annoying.

I just paid for my order but I realised I didn't add the $3 required for registered shipping. Is it possible to still send the guy collecting payments another $3 for that? Or should I just PM 7bot?

If you add the proper request to your invoice for SHIPTRACKED you should get an invoice for $3.beamingrobot wrote: ↑I just paid for my order but I realised I didn't add the $3 required for registered shipping. Yo guys, just ordered leftovers from a GB like this for the first time. How quick should I expect to get an E-mail from the bot so I know my order was successfully? Thanks in advance!

Please follow Ail's advice. Payments that do not correspond to line items on your invoice will only confuse the bot.beamingrobot wrote: ↑I just paid for my order but I realised I didn't add the $3 required for registered shipping. If 7bit isn't too busy, you should get an invoice within 24 hours. If 7bit is very busy, it might take a little more time.Messier104 wrote: ↑Yo guys, just ordered leftovers from a GB like this for the first time. From the invoice for R6 leftovers:
Mark the money as being paid for a service rendered!
Those types of payments use the same option on Paypal. The site literally says "Pay for goods or services." There's no way to specify which. I paid it using that, should I not have?DO NOT mark the money as being for bought goods!

Apparently mine shipped about a week ago. I can scarcely contain my excitement. Hey 7bit, I paid the $3 extra for tracking. Was I supposed to get a tracking notification? Thanks

Mine's 0765 which was supposedly shipped on December 20th or so.. and I'd paid for SHIPTRACKED but it only got applied to my R5 leftovers order, and not the big expensive bit of the order
Starting to worry that they've been lost in transit and I'm out about $300.
