Yes, if the list were compressed by at least a third it would be far more coherent, and "enhancements" to general classes of products should be ignored as sub-categories.

There "might" be surprises yet ;). Keep in mind we are only voting thus far on individual boards you would like (duplicates in various colors are certainly valid). There hasn't been any news yet on how those votes are scored, only how scores would tally back if you already had consolidated submissions. I had to get it down to 100 (made for an interesting 2nd post... for me at least) because 130+ (if truly unique) was a bit much.

I would just vote for the variations you like of anything you like, and roll with it. All a "in good fun" social experiment. Again, it made me think about my collection when I was deciding what to pair down (where the idea came from).

Final hours bump. I'm going to be traveling, so give me a bit to run the "winner" script.

haha... thanks for reminding. Completely forgot about it. I'll run that script this weekend. The votes were consolidated in the ultimate scoring. Some will disagree with my consolidation, but was a reasonable attempt without spending too much time with it.

It is interesting that the most votes went to a keyboard that does not actually exist in real life.

But the MF proto does exist, on lizards's desk!

Indeed... And it is yummy ;). Been the daily driver (when not traveling) for several weeks now and hasn't missed a beat. Eager for the opinion of others... getting there

Wish I hadn't missed out on the MF - I joined DT just a little too late! Someone will likely sell theirs in the future heh.

Apologize about the delay on this, and I almost feel like it is a necro post at this point  ...

So I swizzled the scoring several different ways (fun part about having the data in an RDB), and no matter how I grouped things (even by switch types), we were consistently left with one winner. Congratulations....
Spoiler:

  • HHKB Pro 2 Type-S with a Matt3o PBT spacebar on top. My perfect little daily.
  • IBM 4704 62 key Kishsaver. The original gangster 60% Model F. Another superb main keyboard.
  • Topre Realforce 87U. The 55g version I have is a wonder for tactility. Damped mods, Matt3o spacebar, but otherwise simply stock.
  • IBM Model M SSK. Magnificent form factor, definitive layout, the only real upgrade I can think of is putting Model F innards inside…
  • And one I don't already have? Symbolics!
I'll PM you about shipping considerations... A final shot of the prize

Yes Han, it is all rigged. And like every world class winner, I accept the result with surprise and pleasure!

Thanks for running this Lizard, and serving up a fine wee keyboard handbag fight community contest with a magnificent prize for the lucky bastard artful winner! It's even the apex mainstream Model F, how thoughtful!

Ugh. Only space-saving stuff. Eww, yuck :p .

Congrats Mu, a well-deserved prize, enjoy the AT! :) It's a space-saving design in a way, right? xD
