Holy cow, they said those things drain power, but ON FIRE?!

If I hadn't just paid an unspeakable amount to ship 43kg worth of keyboards from Japan to me, I'd be all over this.

43kg! "Unspeakable" - I understand that feeling... But shipping from Japan should be much cheaper for the Aussies. ;)

It would have been ok, but I think the limit is 25kg per box, so I ended up paying for 2 boxes, effective doubling what I was planning to pay. Gonna have to sell most, if not all of it.

I got some 25-30kg before new years, so I'm good for this year :)

do you guys just load up on a bunch of keyboards from y!jp/rakuten/etc and have the proxy company hold them for you until you rack up ~25kg for shipping, or are you buying lots? Also, is there a guide out there for looking through the japanese auction other than just searching for "keyboard" in english or katakana in the old keyboard category and flipping through the pages?

I spent about 3 hours scrolling through every single page with the word 'keyboard' and the 'used' box checked, bookmarked it and sorted it by new arrivals, and checked every day. There is just so much interesting gear over there. I ended up with 2 QX3s, 2 PC-8801s (hopefully 1 of which as blue ALPS), 2 AEKS that I couldn't pass up because I got them for like $15, a few numpads I got for really cheap, (200 yen, 260 yen, 300 yen and 980 yen respectively) a Sony BKE-2010, IBM Japanese Trackpoint keyboard, some Epson thing with cool keycaps (no idea what switch type) a Short-Throw Topre board, an SMK-8851, an old thing that probably has MM9s, and that's pretty much it.

Only interested in the keycaps if anyone wants the case.

dc-2014: http://www.ebay.com/itm/vintage-leading ... Sw4CFYqRej

The description is very confusing, though. Says the board has an "AT interface", but these boards are definitely XT. Also says shipping will be a flat 15 bucks, but the expedited shipping price for me (in Oregon) is $23.15.

I think that's the roughest looking DC-2014 I've seen. Some sellers.

That looks quite enticing. Does anyone know what switches it has? I've got suspicions, but not much more than a gut feeling.

Which is why they took strategically terrible photos. If even the parts they're showing look bad, the back of the keyboard and the rest of it must be in terrible condition.

I know right, every time one of those Chyron boards comes up (they made several types) I feel spoken to xD . Especially because all their boards are MASSIVE xD .

IBM branded packing tape -- quite possibly original, though I have no way to verify that it isn't a replica:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Rolls-of-Genu ... 2106882858

It would add a nice (but mildly more expensive) touch of authenticity to the MF or Ellipse projects, perhaps?

I thought about KT, but the LED positions are wrong, and the keycap font isn't KT's usual. Maybe it's older than their more well-known designs. I suspect magnetic valve, myself, but it's just a gut feeling, really.

I still say Key Tronic Tom...but I won't say it's FF like this one is where you can see the LED position is exactly the same ;)
