So I got the Italian one when it went from Ebay classifieds to Ebay proper. Now I know why I got it at the minimum bid (lower than the 60EUR from the link): it's a rubber dome Model M.Slom wrote: ↑Two Model M, one ITA and one APL

Which parts of these are interchangeable with Model M proper? The case looks exactly the same, the barrel frame too (as in: keycaps from a buckling spring M fit), I didn't manage to open it yet.
Has anyone tried drilling out the middle stem of the rubber dome keycaps to fit them on a buckling spring M or F (I was interested in the modifier keycaps for converting an Italian Model F AT to ISO).

Not sure if this is even mechanical or not, or if its even worth anything but it does look pretty interesting. http://www.ebay.com/itm/171830244862?_t ... noapp=true
I feel sorry for you, i wouldn't have seen that too. I guess the only way to tell that it's a rubberdome is to google the number on it If it has an sdl cable you can make some money back, else I can tell you if you can reuse things, the knowledge about these rubberdome is probably limited heremartink wrote:So I got the Italian one when it went from Ebay classifieds to Ebay proper. No worries. As far as learning experiences go, this wasn't too expensive.hansichen wrote: ↑ I feel sorry for you, i wouldn't have seen that too. No SDL cable, just a fixed PS/2 cable. Though I hear that the controller may be interchangable with other model Ms and can be used to convert a terminal model m to ps/2.
The keycap drilling doesn't seem realistic at all, it would have to be very accurate to actuate the spring as expected.
And last, It's still pretty to look at (very clean case, no scratches) or to keep as a curiosity.

You would need to drill them out very precisely in order to get the spring to sit in just the right spot. So, no.
They are really good controller and case donors, though. The membrane sheets, barrel plates, and steel plates are the same too.

Haha. Well, if anyone did have one, I'd expect either both of the ones I'm looking for, or money on top. I'm looking for the Realforce 108UW and the 104UK, both of which were/are limited models of HiPro.j0d1 wrote: ↑A beamspring for a Realforce: https://www.reddit.com/r/mechmarket/com ... m?sort=new

Regardless of switches that AEK is a good deal, if anyone buys it be sure to PM the seller and ask him to package it carefully. I've had two AEK 2's arrive completely shattered because a guy decided to tape two cereal boxes together to use as a shipping box but the plastic on the AEK's is brittle anyway.
