Decades back in TAFE, here in Perth, I actually broke this keyboard in the Computer room. Basically picked it up in my hands on opposite edges of the keyboard and twisted it, it broke into pieces and dropped it back onto the desk. Was pissed off at the ridiculous work I was doing at the time.

This was the ONLY IBM keyboard I could destroy with minimum effort, in just a few seconds.

I wanted to link to this keyboard earlier (the listing is not available anymore), but I don't even know whether anyone would have been interested, or whether this is even special or not. Anyways, I don't think I have ever seen legends as weird as these ones:

ESC = ‘LOG On/Off‘, Tab = ‘Reject’, Capslock = ‘Foreign’, blank arrow and function keys, the ‘C // Castle’ keycap… Is this some kind of weird POS-board?

Listing (it is/was (just) a relatively modern G81 though…)

These are normal cherry boards which were made for larger customers. I've read that the moq was like 45 of them and then they were produced. The language code of these often ends with XX and there are many different versions, some are fully blank, others have full numbers over the alpha block etc. They exist as G80 and G81 boards, but as the caps are only thin pbt they are not very interesting.

So Cherry Dye-Subs or Double-Shots are always ‘deep dish’? I didn't know that, either.

Doubleshot is always deepish, dyesub pbt too, but there are also thick pbt lasered caps, these are deepish too. All of those caps have a dot on the numpad. Thin pbt has always bars on all 3 caps

So I freaked out a little when I took a glance at this listing near me in Ontario, but then realized it's a discrete rubber dome style...Model 00 'Unsaver'? I guess? I don't know what people refer to this one as, but here is the listing incase any Canadians are interested, and here is a link to some photos of it that Kishy took:

Sorry for the disappointment of realizing it's not an unsaver. Bit of a harsh tease.

I'd still pay $20 for it, though.

Haha, I see what you did there. Not sure why you quoted hansichen's post though. Yep - I'd probably pay the $20 for it as well, but it's the 4 hour drive (each way) that I'm just not too keen on right now.

It's the domesaver as I call it. I have one of these. They will work with a Soarer's converter.

I didn't care for typing on it myself. It is not a fast typing board, that is for sure. I recall key presses requiring quite a bit more force than say modern rubber domes.

Variety of IBM Wheelwriter keyboards. On the pricey side for sure, but a nice selection and quick reference for whatever keyboard you might already have.

Very kind of you! I appreciate the offer, but on second thought I should probably leave it for someone who knows what to do with it. I'd be jumping in the deep end. It just looks like a nice terminal and a fun project!

This is really the only indication that I could find on the listing:
The keys have a spring mechanism under them. I don't know if it would be considered a clicky keyboard, but it does seem to be somewhat similar to one.

And based on that, they could be anything - they could be those horrible spring over membrane switches you find in a lot of word processors/typewriters or the god awful Amstrads

Unless you asked the seller for more info? Not sure where the Alps reference came from.

This thing looks...hilarious - I want it! No longer will you have to spend countless precious seconds explaining to your friends which TYPE of keyboard you're using, because it will always be both!
