everyone who has responded since i posted has been tallied, and i'll contact people who haven't responded yet to get commitments.
i've contacted codemonkeymike to figure out what's going on, but since i am the final producer and more than willing to take orders from customers directly, i can take over this GB's duties from him. if he doesn't respond by friday, i'll just kinda sliiide into that role and order the blanks, targeting a ship date on the 11th.

also for everyone else who has PMed me or gotten in contact, i will place the blanks order Monday because orders are still trickling in! thanks for all your interest, this should be the biggest single order i've ever done and i'm excited to help the community get some cool caps. will keep y'all updated, but assuming shipping from Unicomp doesn't take too long, they should all be made next weekend.

hey y'all! so the orders have been placed but have not shipped quite yet. not sure what's going on on unicomp's side.... unfortunately also the options that made the cut are pebble, pearl, blue, light blue, white, red, and grey, but that covers over 90% of all orders i received! will send out invoices as soon as they are made! thanks for your patience, which will be rewarded soon!! if they get here by then, will be making the caps saturday or sunday.

So: made a ton of caps this weekend but also encountered some problems. While some colors were completely fine with over 95% of blanks getting good transfers, while other colors had extremely low melting points (like light-blue, which had a 80% failure rate using a 350F heat pressing). I randomly did each color in an interleved pressing fashion so I don't think this is due to temperature fluctuation and actually is the result of the pigment in the keycap altering the melting point. I will send out the first round of requests for payment for those whose entire order is fulfilled as-is, but will do another round of cap-making next Saturday, so if you don't get a PM, sit tight!

Just to be safe, did you get my order for the 2 pebble ones and a red one? I really don't want to miss this opportunity

i did! and those red and pebble caps came out really well, so expect those to ship either this monday or next monday. since 70% of y'all are international it might take some time for me to do all the customs paperworkpansku wrote: ↑Hiwokechill wrote: ↑So: made a ton of caps this weekend but also encountered some problems. I didn't realize this was being sorted out so quickly, when do you want payment for the keycaps brother?wokechill wrote: ↑i did! and those red and pebble caps came out really well, so expect those to ship either this monday or next monday. since 70% of y'all are international it might take some time for me to do all the customs paperworkpansku wrote: ↑Hiwokechill wrote: ↑So: made a ton of caps this weekend but also encountered some problems. I somehow missed this as well. If there are extras or a round 2, I'm interested for sure.

I just got my keycaps today. They look great by the way! There is one minor issue, at least with the two I received. It almost seems like the plastic of the keycap deformed slightly due to heat which causes the keycap to not fully seat onto the plastic stem. It almost feels like a deeper dish keycap, not to an extreme but slightly noticeable compared with other Unicomp keycaps. To compensate for this I simply used my dremel with a tiny carving bit to remove a little bit of material from the top of the plastic stem. All good now!
Hard to tell but the top of the cap bows inward just slightly. F107 - A work in progress!

hey guys! sorry i didn't mean to worry you, i am still here! i was waiting to hear back from the US customers before sending out the international orders, as well as waiting to see what options for international shipping there were. international (outside US) orders that are currently completed will be asked for paypals info and invoiced tonight and tomorrow, with more on the way once more caps are made.
i made a round of caps last Saturday and Monday, then shipped to US orders that are currently fulfilled earlier this week. as i mentioned earlier, these caps have been the most difficult to work with caps i have dye sublimated so far, due to their thin nature and *extremely* low temperatures at which they have a waxy pliability which makes them susceptible to the warping JP! mentioned. this warping also causes the center to lift from the design during the heat pressing process, and i have had to order additional caps to compensate for the number of keycaps that have had poor design transfer or significant warping, so some orders are delayed a week or two, depending on when the second round of blank caps arrives!
i've been thinking about this, and if anyone is unhappy with the quality of their order, i will refund them the cost of their caps. just PM me!
scarpia, wobbled, DustGod and Techno Trousers, i'm shooting y'all PMs right nao!

Mine came in. The grey and pearl are good. The pebble is a little, melted for lack of a better term. The sides of the cap near the top are bubbled out a bit and it no longer snaps into place over a stem. Could probably workaround sanding down a stem.

Got mine as well! And same issue with the pebble one :/. It looks like pebble one got deformed just a tiny bit, and can't stay firm on the stem.
Perfect position for one of these.

In light of the feedback on Pebble, I am cancelling Pebble from all orders. I would rather cut my loses not sending the remaining caps that have been decidedly sub-par as judged by customers than be responsible for its quality after sending it around the world. Eating the cost of these caps is preferable to more negative reviews. Anyone who has been invoiced already with a pebble on their order will be refunded in the next few hours.

Rather than a refund I'd like to change my pebble to red, if it's not too late.wokechill wrote:In light of the feedback on Pebble, I am cancelling Pebble from all orders.
