Alps SKCL/SKCM with no bottom logo

alps.tw could be very confusing at times with his approach to photography. He depicted a white Alps switch batch without the bottom logo (you can see two different bottom shells):

Since then, I got some NOS grey Alps switches (SKCLAQ) where most were lacking the logo:

Now here's used bamboo black (SKCMAP), all with no bottom logo (keyboard not known):

I also have a used pine salmon Alps switch, again, no bottom logo, again keyboard not known. (Just the one, so I can't take a photo showing top and bottom together.)

The missing bottom logo is suddenly not as anomalous as it first seemed. I have to wonder how common this really is.

I just checked the loose switches here on my desk. I have three sets pulled from donor boards. The white SKCM switches I pulled from a Leading Edge DC-2214 are branded on top, blank on the bottom. Those are early, just post-blue SKCM. The blue SKCM switches from a Datacomp DFK-777 are branded on the bottom, blank on top. Later white SKCM from a Focus FK-2001 show branding on top and bottom.

I have a Northgate with very early white SKCM that are blank on top. I'll pull one to see what's on the bottom. I can check my other Alps boards also.

It seems not to be age-related, but surely this mistake would only get made the once? Maybe it's a particular set of moulds where the logo got missed.

It's curious that you mention Leading Edge though, as those are Korean keyboards. Maybe this is a mistake specific to Gold Star Alps.

Is there any way to differentiate Gold Star Alps from those made elsewhere (Taiwan?)?

Nothing is proven — the only oddity is Korean-made keyboards with different colours for the linear (but not clicky) sliders. There are white Alps switches with a variety of horrible mould markings, and I'm guessing that those came from Forward, but nobody knows.
