I'm considering bidding on it towards the end, I'd like to try beam springs and this 3101 looks like it's in pretty good shape.Techno Trousers wrote: ↑FXT wrote:Wondering what this will go for
Sadly, the bid is already above what what I would consider paying for one.

I just think its funny that he thinks the stuff he put on the case and all the weird paint choices on the inside increase the value. I think the best way to sell these is just convert them and leave it at that. Case looks very ugly now imo.Elrick wrote: ↑
Shame really, a brilliant keyboard and it's restoration BUT using leds on this, WHY oh why?
The Youngster's here are into crazy RGB lighting that flash and hypnotize them when they down some ice or ludes. They won't be interested in just plain white leds at all.
Should of kept it simple and plain because doing that to one of IBM's most revered relics, is a crime against humanity .
EDIT: check it AT F for $100! but damaged. https://www.ebay.com/itm/IBM-KEYBOARD-6 ... SwmudaRm-E

The keys look absolutely BRAND NEW .
Hence watch the final pricing on this go all the way up to 4 figures easily .

Time for that second mortgage. Elrick will then be summarily executed by his wife.

I swear that had a $49 BIN price yesterday. Was tempting at that price, but not really for $100.

It was, and I was tempted too. But the broken tabs and lack of badge, not to mention the uncertainty of whether or not it would work were dealbreakers at that price, and certainly at $100.FXT wrote: ↑ I swear that had a $49 BIN price yesterday. Was tempting at that price, but not really for $100.

Apparently the whole alphanumeric section of the keyboard lights up when Caps Lock is on. That's annoying.Elrick wrote: ↑Shame really, a brilliant keyboard and it's restoration BUT using leds on this, WHY oh why?Redmaus wrote: ↑LOL: https://www.ebay.com/itm/IBM-Model-F-12 ... SwySVaRVmc

I find that LEDs enhance my rants. Not to the extent that alcohol does of course.digital_matthew wrote: ↑ Well I guess it would be kind of funny to have the keyboard light up as I type my rants.
Sometimes you have a good idea and it's only later that you realize that it was really a shitty idea in disguise. So I have taken down the listing and will redo the LEDs. There will still be LEDs (LEDs are our FRIENDS!!1), but enough people have stated not liking entire sections of the keyboard being outlined that I feel I've gotta fix that.

Just keep it simple and of course extremely conservative. That is this type of keyboard's hallmark and those that worship it want it that way.just_add_coffee wrote: ↑So I have taken down the listing and will redo the LEDs. As long as nothing is damaged or degraded and it's totally restored to a fully working condition, then watch the moolah flow into it on Flebay.
Although I still DESPISE 'leds' in all it's forms. Only my minions seem entranced by them late at night like 'Moths'.

I really liked the two tone color scheme and the LEDs, while not my thing, seemed like it was a good idea and the execution wasn't bad.just_add_coffee wrote: ↑I find that LEDs enhance my rants. I am still waiting for someone to make a "I have 4 beam spring keyboards video".
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNQcdThO4ZA
I have 4 beam spring keyboards. One for my main computer, one for my secondary computer, one for my work computer, and one for travel so I can enjoy them 4 times as much.

No it's not, didn't you see those San Andreas cracks on the casing?DustGod wrote: ↑Now THIS is going to fetch a pretty penny.
If they want lots of money then they need to supply a pristine conditioned item which this isn't. Then again I'm not one of those freakoid's spending thousand's on IBM gear, dredged up from a sewer .

I think the highest one Ive ever seen was around $300, but damn $900? What the hell is heavy enough and/or far enough that you need almost 1k just for shipping?Chyros wrote: ↑That's nothing man, I had a shipping quote of $900 once.

It wasn't even a giant room full of computer stuff or anything either, it was just a beamspring keyboard or something.

To be fair, he did say it weighs 135lbs so I don't think the shipping estimate is too unreasonable given how heavy the package is. That said, it probably will prevent me from bidding if the price goes too high.Gnohio wrote: ↑

On the other hand KeyTronic is dissed too much in general though. Also notice the seller calls it "Keytonic".
