And that board is pretty grimy too, i'm sure even if they were blues I wouldn't want to type on them. It is strange though you would think that if they were to come white white alps they would for sure be pine alps, but I don't see slits on those.//gainsborough wrote: ↑Blaise170 wrote: ↑It's theoretically possible that someone switched out the switches at some point in the board's history.//gainsborough wrote: ↑https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Leadin ... 1438.l2649
Huh.... so DC-3014s can come with white alps. Noted.
yeah i had thought too. I also considered the possibility that those two switches were replaced at some point in the boards life - but the probability of that happening to the exact two switches he/she pulled seems like it would be crazy low.

The slits are there - it's just so grimy/dusty that it's hard to see, hahaha. It's easiest to see the left slit on the right switch.Brett MacK wrote: ↑

Not surprised. My DC-2214 came with white SKCM (no slits) and I believe those were concurrent with the 3014.//gainsborough wrote: ↑https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Leadin ... 1438.l2649

You have to love certain keyboards that literally provide a ready made serving tray for seedlings. Growing some good stuff here and using some crusty old keyboard with 'junk' can be easily used at my place.

You could harvest the caps too. The yellow OR blue keycaps on their own actually aren't that bad... It's the combination of yellow and blue that makes it so nauseating.Elrick wrote: ↑I would personally disembowel this keyboard for the switches.digital_matthew wrote: ↑Well if you want a keyboard with cleaner white Alps switches, then look no further than this:

I expected that to top out at around $100. Not sure what's going on there. Damped cream Alps are not that great, IMO.xxhellfirexx wrote:Does anyone know why this is worth so much?

So this appears to be a "normal" bidding war.
I was hoping for it to reach around the $800 mark, but not till near the end of the auction. As a long-time eBayer, this high early bidding defies logic, but I'm certainly not complaining.
Not cool.

Funny, he said he got too competitive and was hoping to be outbid in his reddit post. Wonder what sort of chain reaction that one bad bidder will cause now?Tuntematon wrote: ↑

Wonder if he'll win or if somebody else will bid higher at the end. I missed out on an auction recently because somebody outbid me by a dollar with 4 seconds left in the auction.

People seem to be more aware of things in Japan now too. I used to pay between $50-100 for Sharp keyboards and I could easily get $150-200 for them here in the US. I recently just bid on about ten and nine of them went above $150/ea, way over my snipe of $90. Sniping has probably saved me hundreds if not thousands over the years, by keeping me out of bidding wars.

It's getting to the point that a keyboard production run, with new components made from new injection moulding tools, based on vintage designs, is viable commercial proposition. The spiralling price trend is not abating, yet.
