Man, when will Plum realized that if they made a version with standard sized spacebar, their keyboard will appeal to many more enthusiasts.

How does it feel like typing on such light switches?

I was really hoping for a normal 60% board from Plum. Oh well.

I guess I'll just keep using my Nano 75s.

What is this terrible layout?

1+

At least I hope they may offer some replacement caps so that I can use the top 2 rows like a HHKB:
- Delete / Backspace at \|
- Tilde-backtick at the 1u Backspace now and then \| moves to the now Tilde-backtick key

Instead of reinventing yet another new way they think keyboard users should type, please look into the key cap kits in the market, especially by GMK and SP. And yes, spacebar is a key piece.

Needs more split spacebar.

They just should have made a 60% or a HHKB Layout then i would have been interested. The layout is terrible.

prefer the bottom model just remove the F-row and it's a better layout in my humble opinion.
Don't like that strange shift/arrow-up combo.. just make the board a bit wider..
As long as it's around the same size as my FC660C.
But i do like the back lighting

I talked with the engineer and he said the first reactions like yours are expected. Still there is a reason to finalize on this layout design. They tried different sizes and selected the positions that is most comfortable for fingers.

Also the shift and arrow keys can function simultaneously ( different from traditional ). In addition that arrows can be achieved by Fn+wasd with one hand, as you can program the fn keys where you like..

China's market is huge and there is not much computing tradition in China, and therefore I can understand how this engineer think - and these are all related to the 35g weight preference too, in China.

I would be very nice if PLUM or NIZ or EnjoyBPT or MaxKey can manufacture some of these 4.75 units space bar caps for us to buy, e.g. in black, white (instead of beige), red, blue, green, etc. Because one major hurdle for getting this is that particular key not allowing customizing key cap sets on it. Having GMK or SP to make 4.75u spacebar will be lots of effort and time, and I believe magic can happen in China in a more efficient way in these days.

Yes, different color 4.75 spacebar is possible to get. Already forward the information to plum

Finally 60%

28 Mar 2018, 16:40

Man, I do like that there's a 60% version now, but that bottom row is gonna be a tough sell.
Changing the ALT modifier to a 1 unit size key makes it unfeasible for gaming.

Might as well ask here too:
Does anyone know of a nice PBT doubleshot shine-through MX keycap set in light colors to put on my Plum 75?
There were some on Massdrop a few weeks ago but sadly the drop ended.

Hi there, I have the new 2019 Atom66 (with updated EC switches) about to be delivered and I'm excited because it's my birthday woo hoo. Anyway, I'm planning on using my own keycaps on it, but damn, that 4.75u space bar. Defeats the purpose of MX compatible switches if nobody makes a space bar in that size. Apparently, according to posts from previous years, SA used to sell 4.75u space bars, but they are no longer listed on the site. Any other ideas?

What kind of sick bastard decides to put Fn-keys next to space bar? And on both sides? Please.

Actually, the left FN and the right FN work like two different layers in the programming software, depending on which one you press, you access a whole different layer that you can customize. You can also change the location of the FN keys.

I know this because my brande new Atom66 arrived today and I'm typing this on it. I haven't delved into customization yet because although it looks like there are a lot of options, the manual is confusing so it will take me some time to figure it all out. So far I'm enjoying the key feel, although I will almost certainly end up trying out the extra springs to see what that feels like.
