So I haven't checked on this thread in years... I ordered back 3-4 years ago? Jesus I can't even remember - I think it was called Round 5A back then? Can anyone give me the skinny? I'm overwhelmed by 500 pages. Thanks in advance.

I think this is as condensed as it gets. Sit down kids, it's story time:onmybikedrunk wrote: ↑So I haven't checked on this thread in years... I ordered back 3-4 years ago? - What was initially called Round 5a grew and expanded, and was eventually renamed Round 6.
- 7bit made the descision to split Round 6 into two separate group buys: Round 6a and Round 6b.
- The money amassed was used to pay Signature Plastics for Round 6a, in the hopes that leftover sales would eventually amass enough cash to fund Round 6b down the line.
- This would all have worked (mostly) fine, were it not for the fact that all the Space Cadet alphas had incorrectly scaled legends and had to be remade at great expense. The reason was either that 7bit sent Signature Plastics vector files containing incorrect information, or that Signature Plastics misinterpreted the information given by 7bit – I do not really feel like playing the blame game here, so let's just say mistakes were made.
- The remaking of all those keys meant Round 6b was at a huge deficit, as the same pool of funds used to fund Round 6a was supposed to cover the costs of Round 6b. An order could not be placed until 7bit had all the funds, which would have to come from selling leftovers from Round 5 and Round 6a (plus whatever other things 7bit sells, e.g. MX switches). That took quite a while.
- Eventually, 7bit was able to amass the funds necessary to pay Signature Plastics. Round 6b has been produced, shipped out to 7bit in Germany, and is being sorted and shipped to buyers as we speak

^ Admirable explanation! Didn't we have problems with a payment proxy at some point? i.e. either someone ran away with the money or didn't get the money to SP in a timely manner.

I don't think anyone actually proper ran away with any money, but I do seem to remember there were collectors that paid their invoices way later than they were supposed to. However, I don't think any money was lost that way. There might have been some delays, but I don't think they were major ones.chuckdee wrote: ↑^ Admirable explanation! Most of the problems related to payments have been the result the group buy relying on proxies for PayPal payments, meaning that people outside of EU were not able to pay their orders during periods were noone was willing to collect.

Hi,
A cross post from the R7 thread - really hoping that some kind soul can offer some help...
Looking for some assistance selecting kits from R7.
It seems that the HYPER7 kits from R6 have all found homes.
So, the quest is to build up a HYPER7 layout, but I'm having difficulty finding some of the kits (do they exist, can this be done?).
I've managed to snag HYPER7/POS and HYPER7/BASE from the R6 leftovers (a solid start) - but the remaining pieces are proving elusive.
The following kits are made available in R7:
ALGOL/CADET/7BIT/GREY - to cover all required alphas
ALGOL/NUMNUM/BLUE
ALGOL/NUMOP/BLUE - both kits are required to create the RHS number cluster
A reference to HONEY/NUMERIC7/WHITE was found whilst browsing R5 leftovers (a promising lead), which looks to cover the top-most row (above number row and below POS keys).
However, I would need either:
- a split set with most of the keys in GREY and 4 in BLUE ([^], [%], [#], [$]) to sit above the numpad cluster
or, more likely
- 2 sets, 1 GREY, 1 BLUE
HONEY/NUMERIC7/GREY - placed above the alphas
HONEY/NUMERIC7/BLUE - for [^], [%], [#], [$]
R3 1u [DELETE]
R3 1u [RUN] - bottom row of numpad cluster
Then all that remains (all!) is the LHS cluster in its entirety in BLUE (can this be done?)
R1 1u [F1] [F2] [F3] [F4] [CLOSE] [OPEN] [FIND] [WRITE]
R2 1u [F5] [F6] [MARK] [UNDO]
R3 1u [F7] [F8] [SELECT] [DEBUG]
R4 1u [F9] [F10] [ALT LOCK] [TTY LOCK]
R3 1u [F11] [F12] [HOME] [EOF]
Frustratingly, there's a teasing link to HYPER7 on 7bit's site - but the link doesn't provide any further detail.
Is this link (below) a sign of something yet to come (fingers crossed)?
http://www.7bit.info/algol/ALGOL_KEYBOARD.html#ALGOL | KEYBOARD | COMPLETE KIT | HYPER7
7bit, could you comment? It would make things many orders of magnitude easier for me if that link is due to be made real!
I would be incredibly grateful if anyone is able to help (even if it's just to confirm that I'm on the right track)!
Cheers,
bit-shifter

Thanks!
Or search out the unlucky soul with two Q:s and no O:s, I guess.

That's my order number, and that update was more than two months ago. Should I be worried about the fact that I haven't received a tracking number or an updated invoice email or a package full of keycaps? (I did just send a WASSUP to 7bot.)

The different names merely tell you which Signature Plastics shipment a kit came from:
HONEY = Round 5 Honeywell keycaps
HONEYB = Round 6 Honeywell keycaps
HONEYG = grab-bag Honeywell keycaps
The distinction matters to 7bit and pretty much nobody else. All HONEY* keycaps use the same colors, so you can mix them without problems.

I placed an order (11 items from the R6 leftover list) but in the invoice mail the alphas were missing
missing: HONEYG/ALPHA/WHITE
does that mean they are not available even though listed in R6 leftovers?
The R6 leftovers wiki hasn't been updated in over 2 weeks, so it's very possible that some kits listed there aren't available anymore. Don't feel too bad though, I've tried ordering things less than an hour after they'd been posted and I still miss them.

Just realized that the alphas (and four other items) were missing in my invoice mail, too. I had sent my order more than three weeks ago and already paid. And yes, I didn't read the invoice thoroughly before paying. Without alphas the rest of my orderends up being rather senseless to me. That's pretty annoying

It is almost impossible to put together a full keyboard at this point. Pre-ordering for Round 6 began in Sept of 2014, so there's not much left to pick through at this point except odd kits here and there.
And no, there won't be any more HONEY* made any time soon. Your best bet is to find something in Round 7 that is similar, if possible.

Just to inform that my keycaps arrived in Brazil, now they are being processed for possible import taxes. Let's hope they won't stay there for long.

WOW! That's a lot of orders. And a lot of money. And unique keycaps.
Also, I have a question: Let's say I became rich tomorrow. If I wanted to buy this keyset then, could I? Or are these deliveries of the keycaps whose production has ended, but still need delivering?

These are made to order. You'll want to join the Round 7 GB, or you could post a WTB and see what offers you get. If you just want a few caps, look through the leftovers. I got some arrow and fingers keys through leftovers, and have a VIOLETT order pending for Round 7.green-squid wrote:WOW! That's a lot of orders. And a lot of money. And unique keycaps.

I wonder if he's got any faulty keycaps. Maybe I could get a big pack of 'rejects' from him for a cheaper price, like one of those grab bags!
