I actually think it's pretty cool looking. But no way am I spending time to learn that layout.

That's not ugly — it's, instead, ill-designed, but that's a different issue.davkol wrote: ↑This atrocity is fun too, thanks Colemak forum for reminding me:...
Now, let's find an vomit-Artisan filled version of that! Or better not...

Very few artisans actually look good to me. The only one that I've seen that I really love are these:

There is a special place in hell for people who would put that logo on an innocent keyboard.Blaise170 wrote: ↑That thing is hideous! Especially having this logo on it!
I have a feeling that that choice of keys is more out of necessity than an intentional style choice.davkol wrote: ↑Reddit strikes again.

They are still practical and look nice so I myself wouldn't mind them. The problem with artisans is that they cost wayyyyyy to much to justify it for me.Blaise170 wrote: ↑Very few artisans actually look good to me. The only one that I've seen that I really love are these:

Agreed, truly detailed and really amazing fitting all of that into a single Key-cap, yet you'll still have those spending $1200+USD on a single old Click-clack .

I think grab bag vomit keyboards can look pretty good if they're done right IMO. If I had the money for one of those grab bags, I'd love to get one!

I actually sold a bunch of "grab bags" last year with old keys that I didn't use anymore. Not sure where they are now, but I wasn't going to use them anyways so meh.

Looking at Reddit is basically cheating. That site just seems to draw in people with horrendously bad taste. I found this in under a minute of scrolling through/r/mechanicalkeyboards
I will never, ever understand novelty/artisan caps that let you see the stem, I just find it horribly ugly.FXT wrote: ↑Looking at Reddit is basically cheating. and I agree I've seen enough ugly artisan filled keebs on the subreddit to last a life time

Perhaps we should split the "anti-pimped" category I proposed earlier into two: non-reddit and reddit.FXT wrote: ↑Looking at Reddit is basically cheating.
Sadly, your entry is mild, compared to the hideousness that can be found over there.

I will agree that it's mild in comparison to some of the boards that were posted in this thread, but it's still pretty hideous. It's got way too many artisans, a bunch of mismatched colors/caps, and perhaps worst of all it has a flipped spacebar. That trend needs to die already. It's not more ergonomic and it looks stupid.

On that topic, I was recently browsing older posts in the Geekhack media subforum, mainly in the What did you add to your Keyboard today? thread, and the keyboards and keysets back in ~2014 somehow looked more tasteful than what I usually see these days. Like, as if there was more attention to detail, when there were only vintage keycaps and much fewer group buys with simpler color themes.

Don't forget to add Geekhack here as well, they seem to attract supreme 'Fugliness' on a grand scale .samuelcable wrote: ↑ I agree I've seen enough ugly artisan filled keebs on the subreddit to last a life time

I am intrigued, I want to see those keyboards but I don't find anything with the search feature, do you have links nearby?pansku wrote: ↑I don't recognise the seller but is it from the guy with the ruined 5251 or from the person with the purple plate F107?
