It's nice seeing one for less than $1000, I'd probably be interested if I was in the market for a beamspring right now.

I predict that the 5251 won't last long. Looks like there's a couple of offers on it, but I am guessing someone will use the buy it now. Keycaps are a bit shiny, but if you plan to use as your daily driver anyway, that doesn't really matter. Is always a little more comforting to see what condition the barrel plate is in to get an idea of storage conditions, but usually don't have time to have the seller get back to you with extra pictures before it sells to someone else who is willing to take the risk that's it's in good shape under the hood

I am actually taking your advice and just adding finds to the original comment, and I'm cutting back on the no. of posts, since I don't give a damn about having a large post count to boost my e-peen.
Please guys. My intention was not to shit-post. I just made the extra comment when the scam was pointed out, and made an extra comment instead of just removing it, and being done with it.

I asked the seller and was told it was stored in a climate controlled basement. I believe he said they have four more to list, likely at the same price this one was listed at.orihalcon wrote: ↑I predict that the 5251 won't last long. Thanks for the recon. I refuse to pay these prices though. It would need to be exceptionally rare.kf1246 wrote: ↑I asked the seller and was told it was stored in a climate controlled basement. I thought it looked quite good till I read that the plate was vinyl wrapped, not actually chromed. At least he/she put some time into restoring it, rather then ask 500 for an unrestored white whale.

A lot of people search for vintage keyboards, see a Model M selling for 60€ and assume that their vintage keyboard is worth just as much.

I have no idea what the difference is or if it is legit, but the listing does go on to state that "This originally was a CT-2100 but has been upgraded to a CT-2200 and has the last known firmware version, 1.2".

It's all about TIME.green-squid wrote: ↑Same here, Mike! And he's just buying and buying and buying keyboards and vinyl snap like that! I'm striving to be in his financial position one day.
When I was growing up, the whole slew of available and quite cheap mechanical keyboards where available, so I picked up some old keyboards that now seem to be worth something.
At the time, I only bought stuff that felt nice to use and type on but anything that didn't, was avoided like poison and politics.
When you finally arrive into financial security, you can take the time to do an inventory check to see what you have rather than running around spending huge sums, trying to buy stuff now that you could of easily have bought when they were first available.
Can only see that the Mechanical Keyboard Market is going UP and will stay there, for the foreseeable future.

Those Bulgarian IZOT switches are mine, and I'd be willing to sell relatively cheaply for anyone interested. The last link you listed with the Bulgarian keyboard uses what I think are the same switches, only with a black slider and housing instead. The design certainly appears to be the same from what I can tell in the photo. The keycaps won't fit Cherry MX, but they will fit Alps SKCC for anyone who wants to do a custom build.
