That lettering is very distinctive; I think I saw it on a Space Invader board here long ago.. anyone recognize it for certain?

It looks to me like the back has a big indentation that's characteristic of a rubber dome keyboard.

Yep it's a Rubber Dome (cheaply made), bought one two years ago.

True, but still it's better than Unicomp.

I'm not sure if the seller really knows if they are original or not. F122's with APL caps still had two piece caps, but seller may be thinking that since they are two piece that they must have come from an M122? Doesn't sound like the original owner from the description. If there is an APL on the backspace key, they are original, though not sure if that applied to M122's as well. Label may also give some hints whether they are the original caps. It will say something like "PL#" and that tells you which type of caps it would have had I am pretty sure. Thinking either PL6 or PL11 is APL, but would be worth a look and seller would probably send you a picture of the label if you ask.

Also, interestingly enough, Unicomp doesn't changed their APL caps to all Top printed and black:

It appears to be blue for the APL legends, actually, but still. Yet another case of Unicomp not understanding their customers. I think most people want them because they look cool, not because they need to use them for programming. They should have raised prices rather than cheaping out on them. Same could be said for most of their stuff.

They may be unicomp - when I bought my APL keyset from unicomp they looked just like that.

Luckily enough I managed to get all of the ones that he has been selling. I got the first one in the mail Friday and it is 100 percent original caps. He said he doesn't have any more, but I was lucky to get what I did.

Congratulations!

I have to wonder if this can be fully restored or, failing that, partially gutting it to add a Raspberry Pi or something like that, to make it work as a "modern" computer while keeping the keyboard and monitor functioning and, perhaps, even adding a video output to a secondary monitor! Seeing this with a modern HD monitor, plus the most garish "gaming" mouse you could find would make for a fantastic frankenputer! :D

I've never understood why sellers charge shipping. Include it in your sell price and then offer free shipping. This serves two purposes:

1. People often search with a maximum price with free shipping. This means that even if they were willing to pay $1440 for your beamspring, it now does not show up in search results.

2. People feel like they are getting a better bargain if you do not charge shipping, which means that you might be able to sell your beamspring for $1450 or even $1500 (with free shipping).

Well the seller did something right, because the keyboard sold :!:

Well I'm obviously not picking on this seller specifically - but as a general thing, you stand to gain a lot more if you offer free shipping and then just increase the item price by the amount you would've charged anyways.

I know, I'm just astonished that for that price plus shipping the keyboard sold so quickly. :)

Hardly a general thing, maybe just your personal preference? Because in marketing, what works better is how airbnb, airplane tickets, etc. work. Appear as cheap as possible, hide extra costs from the advertised price.

Free shipping to where? Your local country? That makes no sense if you are willing to ship internationally.

For eBay you can have free shipping with international - eBay just tacks the additional shipping cost on. Obviously this only works for same country.

I've had much better success doing it this way and based off whatever I can find in eBay forums. If sellers could actually hide shipping then I'd consider it useful, but sorting by price+shipping will filter those results anyways.

My experience has been just the opposite. Many times I have had items sit there with free shipping, but as soon as I broke out the shipping as a separate charge, they sold quickly.

I don't understand it - like you say, the filter incorporates price + shipping.

I guess it depends on what exactly you are selling - I sell lot more than just keyboards.
