Anyone know what type of switches these are? It's on an Olivetti M21.

Hi. This is my first post on Deskthority. I stumbled upon these and don't know what they are. I expect rubber-domes, but at $2 each I'm picking them up no questions asked. I think the black one looks really sexy. Notice it has a weird "Macro" key next to left shift (in place where ISO boards usually have backslash). Does anyone know what it's for?

First one is definitely rubber dome. I imagine the second one probably is too, but could potentially be a surprise. My guess is Alps slider over rubber dome but I have no evidence other than a hunch.

Thanks for the reply. The first one is some variant of Chicony KB-2971. So yeah - normal rubber dome. It's still puzzling me though, because there is no brand mentioned anywhere on the case, plus there's that suspicious macro key.Blaise170 wrote: ↑First one is definitely rubber dome. I heard Alps sliders over domes are pretty bad, but I'll take anything with Alps compatible keycaps.

I know it's a focus 2001, but is there any way to tell which switches are in there? It uses a din5 connector if that helps.

Chicony was (and still is) a huge OEM provider, so it's likely that it's just a generic keyboard for a generic PC. Alps slider feel depends, I can think of at least 3 different types of Alps sliders and they all feel different.EvilJester wrote: ↑Thanks for the reply. According to the wiki, it uses Hua-Tie clones of clicky Alps.

The second one is a Chicony 5311 - an okay rubber dome board.EvilJester wrote: ↑I stumbled upon these and don't know what they are. I expect rubber-domes.

I know focus went through a bunch of different changes to that keeb, and was hoping that someone knew what kind of switch happened after windows keys but before ps2. reading the wiki more closely it looks like there are only 2 possibilities and none of them are alps. Should still be a god board either way.

To be fair, a lot of audiophiles call them "cans" but I also can't stand that nickname.kbdfr wrote: ↑I wonder how headphone nerds abbreviate their stuff: "hephs"?zrrion wrote: ↑[…] keeb […]

Looks very much like the ones used on the Sony Hitbit MSX2 - Its a SMK made switch/board - dome with slider capacitative switch.

"Cans" are short for closed back headphones, which are meant for monitoring. Doesn't apply to open backs meant for listening

Hello everyone I am new to mechanical keyboards and I found a guy selling some keyboards for very cheap price. I don't have many pictures of the keyboards but maybe you could help me identifying what they are. Thank you

Aw that's unfortunate but thank you for help. I found one more keyboard. It's from IPC. I've never heard of this company. Here I am sending a pic. Could it be mechanical?
Also I am sending one more keyboard because I don't want to miss any deal.

A contact of mine sent me some pictures of some interesting finds. What do you guys think? Some of the stuff is a bit too big and heavy for me to take though but the keyboards look nice but I don't know anything about them.

I'm not able to identify most of them but I'd be that most of them are mechanical. They look sweet!
