A little more symmetry for RGBY users

Warning! This post contains the crappiest pics ever! Sorry, I'll pic better ones on request.

However, I'm using a Filco tenkeyless under OS-X. I also use keyremap4macbook to remap f-keys to apple media keys, change alt and win key to command and option, etc. Since when I got RGBY modifiers from hashbaz's group buy I've been looking to a more symmetric layout. Takayama Fumihiko, creator of keyremap, was kind enough to write a small feature on my request.

First my layout was like this:

Now it's like this:

With diamond (yellow) serving as Command and Menu working as Function.

If anyone else is interested, the code is here https://github.com/tekezo/Files/blob/ma ... rivate.xml
You can easily add it to keyremap4macbook!

looks like right alt is easier to press too, compared to the original layout (the only thing bugging me on my current keyboard)

I never understood why they added that menu key makes the space bar even smaller for no good reason. If they wanted to add it why not just have one meta key ( windows key) and one menu key.

Or just use caps lock as meta key like i do on all my keyboards that pre date the menu and windows key.

What purpose does the Menu key serve in Windows? Right click only?

Yeah, it's pretty useless unless you're lacking a mouse.

On the other hand it can make some sense when remapped as FN – I mostly use F keys as media keys.

I like a big space bar should be from at least from the right hand side of z to the left hand side of ? ISO layout of course.

ISO layout of course.
Which would seem pretty decently short on a german iso layout, 6,5cm short. On czech however.. more 7bit like.
Somehow I feel you're more the type for one of those pre-Alt-key versions, from here.
