I bought the PCB with plate, switches and caps from a Canon AP 830 typewriter today, expecting them to be Alps. Imagine my surprise when I discovered the keys to be white SMK inverse cross mount switches ...


Switches are nice, but I don't really have a use for them. Do you think they'd be worth anything to anybody? Custom switches (stems) needing custom caps, there'd be 80 ABS doubleshot keys, sculptured, spherical (ISO-DE, unfortunately, of the old school typerwriter variant) and stabs to go with them.

For what it's worth, I'd restore it and possibly retrobrite the case if it'd increase its value but I guess people are more interested in the switches. Thanks.

I have mine for all day use (orange switches). I prefer the keyfeel to anything new on the market at the moment. It can easily be converted to USB with an eg. pro micro and the layout has only minor drawbacks. If I was looking for a decent board for typing and I only can choose between a new - let's say G80-3000 and this AEK i'll take yours - for the same price - just my two cents.

A lot. I think easily more than $1,000 for a good condition OG one would be my guess in the current market. What will be interesting to see is if the value of them drops off after the ellipse f62/f77 project orders are fulfilled.

Not entirely relevant to this thread, but I figure it does more good than harm posting here.

I purchased all three of Marko's SBUs on the 31st of May. Since then, I haven't heard back from him once. Throughout the whole buying process he tried his best to make me pay with Skrill, which has no chargebacks.

I've just learned that he's been trying to sell more SBUs to other people, and has successfully sold at least one board. He's told the other buyer that he doesn't have money to ship his keyboard. Seems like a clear trend of overselling and lack of response.

Please, don't buy anything off this guy. If you've already bought something: get ready to do a chargeback if you don't hear anything from him soon.
