At least for me ublock was the problem. After deactivating it I can see the little arrows next to every avatar. Thanks!

it's not ublock per se, you activated some aggressive "annoyance" filter that triggers a false positive on DT. Considering that we do not track and we do not have AD (and never will) you can safely disable it.

Oh ok, I indeed have some additional filters activated (for annoyance I have "AdGuard Annoyances filter" and "Fanboy’s Annoyance List", but some others from different categories as well). Now I'm wondering what else I'm missing on other websites. Or maybe I should be glad.

Feature request: a filter for posts with attachments in the search function.
Example, I'd like to find the pictures I posted of my Access-IS matrix keyboard. The best search I can do currently is this:
search.php?keywords=access&terms=all&au ... mit=Search
"Back in the old days" we could search for posts with attachments. Well, either that or I was pestering for this before!

It was hosted on DT. Hopefully still there in the database. I used that joke a fair bit back in the day, and it still applies!

@matt3o: Probably similar requests have already been posted. In any event, I would like to add my voice to the chorus.
The DT Wiki is a great resource, and there are people who have made posts elsewhere in DT that would make important contributions to the Wiki. However, the frequent reply is that they do not know how to use the Wiki.
Would it be possible to make the Wiki easier to use (edit; make additions) and/or to post tutorials about how to use (edit; make additions) it?
Thank you!

Wiki tutorials sound like something for the Wiki regulars to produce. The irony will be they'll work better if posted on the forum side of DT, and not the Wiki. You know, when preaching to the choir…
By the way, even ancient Safari 4 on Mac OS X 10.4 on my 2003 PowerBook likes the new DT design. It's bloody quick and almost flawless in appearance, even on that Jurassic beast. Functional, too; as I'm posting this there now. Amazing achievement!
TenFourFox—the astonishing Firefox backport to Tiger—even gets to total parity with modern browsers on the same old Mac. Superb DT design!

As fun as playing with old macs is ( form an era when apple actually made quality hardware). Why not give that lovely power book some new life by putting linux on it ? Many distros still maintain PPC repos and for the apps that are not in the repo you could build them .Muirium wrote: ↑10 Feb 2019, 21:10TenFourFox—the astonishing Firefox backport to Tiger—even gets to total parity with modern browsers on the same old Mac. The state of Linux for PowerPC was pretty bad when I looked at it many years ago. I don’t expect it to be any better now. That was when Apple had just dropped update support for the machines in question. The user base must be near zero now.
But I can get nostalgic with my Aqua and the aluminium 12 inch PowerBook it came with. Not productively, but not without Deskthority either!

The Debians are ok. Gentoo ofc as its all build form source. We lost Arch PPC tho .
Its sad we are losing things like PPC SPARC etc just making x86 a little better every year is boring

AMDs chiplets are what will kill intel, if intel don't do it themselves with there pathetic attempt at 10nm, its coming guys soon TM. I mean beating TWO of your competitors chips at half the power with a SINGLE CHIP is just insane. EPYC Rome is killing it.
As much as it should ARM is just simply not going to happen on the desktops, servers yes where its all about performance per watt, but sometimes you need that raw grunt a x86 CPU will give you.
RISC V possibly ?

Trust me, Arm will eat everything. Just as Intel did before it, from the low end up.
Anyway, back on topic, so many lost attachments and even missing threads in this link post I made at the end of 2014:

Was trying to find pics of my beamspring for another thread today but they may well be gone.

missing threads should only be in the marketplace. attachments I don't know why, possibly the update script thought they were orphaned and deleted them.

Okay in the coming days I should finally have some time again to work on the site updates. I'll review the to-do and decide how to move on. There are already a couple of updates to both phpbb and mediawiki so I guess that would be the priority.
One problem that we are facing is with spammers. we tried a couple of things in the last few weeks, but it's not helping much. Again phpbb helps very little.
There's still something in the back of my head that tells me to change platform... but we'll see.
