Any Idea what switches are in this one (and further info about it)?

Thx. Interesting board... I am tempted to buy it, price is kinda steep tho (170€).

As I recall that's a board with Micro Switch rubber dome (ST) switches. Could be wrong though.

Hmm... rubber dome... i will pass then, 170 is too much to gamble and the seller refuses to give more info or more photos without keycap (maybe he knows why ^^), thx (still like the look of the board tho)

You're right, I meant ST, not SC

This LOOKS like a BTC, but ISN'T a BTC. What could be?

Image
I thought it might be SMK inverse cross mount because it has a similar bottom row profile, but couldn't find an exact match. What makes you so sure it's not BTC?

Well, the blue Alt keycaps and the ramp style wrist rest, also the single unit Esc key. Unfortunately I think it was sold.

I don't think the large Esc key is a given for all BTCs (see here). The steep reverse slope keycaps remind me of Olivetti, except for the bottom row. Come on, someone solve this mystery...

Saw this in a "viral" video stop motion of a man eating his previous keyboard.

Anybody got an idea as to what this board may be?

Capture.PNG
This video? https://youtu.be/WknsauSpVUk (Keyboard crasher's lunch)

Both keyboards are well identified.

The membrane keyboard he cuts is Perixx PERIBOARD-106 (the label is clearly visible):
https://www.amazon.com/Perixx-PERIBOARD ... B01BFCBNEI

Image

The RGB mechanical keyboard in the end is Ajazz AK510, it even sells on Massdrop.
https://drop.com/buy/ajazz-ak510-retro- ... l-keyboard

He also writes that he used "Filco's white-axis mechanical switch keyboard and truly's blue-axis mechanical switch keyboard." for the sound. Not really sure but it probably means Filco with Cherry MX Clear (are there any stock Filco's with clears?) and Truly Ergonomic Keyboard (?) with Cherry MX Blue (they really sell those, dreadful noise aside MX Blues are pretty tactile).

can someone tell me if these have alps switches or not? I know there are a handful of hewlett packard boards that have cream alps, but I don't remember if compaq ever made any alps boards, i feel like i might have seen one somewhere, but i might just be misremembering an HP board.

Yep. Key Tronic foam and foil.

Got myself this great condition Chicony 5160. The caps seem ALPS mount to me (hasn't been sent yet). I'd never seen one with a phone-style connector before...

I would guess it is a Oemmax MCK-860 (high chance of blue alps afaik)

I have an OEMMAX MCK-860 and this does look like one as well but I have never seen it with the RJ10 connector.

EDIT: Also looks like there is a din connector that comes out of the case which is interesting.

On second thoughts, the 86... serial number seems to indicate it's an MCK-860 after all. Still, rather stupefyingly similar.

Yummy blue ALPS then. Oh goodie!

Chicony did use Alps/Silitek-style cases like that (also others though), but the caps are very different from early-era Chicony ones, and the lock light sticker (one of the biggest differentiators for 5160-style keyboards) is uniquely different.

Hey! I think I got that board off ebay the other day :-) Serial number and little smudge close to the broken clip are the same. The seller (or someone) wrapped the top case in some sort of cammo.....doesn't look awful, but that's why I was thinking of transplanting the innrards into a model F case. Sadly that came to nothing.

The switchs though....mmmmmm...mmmmm

I recently bought a NOS KB-5160 (Futaba) to use the PC board and plate in a Franklin case. I can make you a deal on the Chicony case if that helps.

Mine has the same lock light overlay as the Alps version, and also the big rectangular front feet, both different than the OEMMAX.

I'm definitely interested! How much were you thinking?

I'm relatively new here on deskthority, how do we do this?

I've just spotted a listing with some keyboard with FCC ID: HEW 292, which I couldn't find in the FCC ID database, and it looked like SKB-5150C (or Tai-Hao TH-5150, but that one shouldn't have an AT/XT switch, whereas the listed keyboard did have it). It went for a little over €40.

Heya.

That's a typo in the FCC ID. Podworld 292

That's what I found too, but the keyboard was NOT Podworld 292, as it looked identical to SKB-5150C (layout, non-stepped keycaps, case with the panel/sticker on top, large feet, the AT/XT switch); the sticker itself also said "84KEY" instead of "101KEY".

It seems weird to me that they would reuse the FCC ID for so different keyboards (84key and 101key), while making a typo in it as well, but if that happened, I'm saying that there's evidence that it did happen.
